I disagree. Vitale did not hit the boards anywhere near as hard.

It has nothing to do with the force you hit the boards, it's the position you're in when you're hit. That's my understanding of boarding. Hitting a guy when he's in that vulnerable spot a few feet from the boards with his back to you. Komisarek (when hit, not hitting) by my recollection (only saw it once), was perpendicular to the boards, not parallel.

I know, but Komisarek did have his head down in a vulnerable position playing the puck with his back to Kunitz. Kunitz also used a pushing motion just as was done on Vitale (in his case, a crosscheck)
