On Google Hot Topics, Gillies has rocketed to number 2 (ahead of Charlie Sheen, lol).

There's something wrong with this guy. Personally, I think that something is that he's just really freaking stupid.

That said, right or wrong, this is a great opportunity for the NHL to make an example of an inconsequential player. Throw the book at him. Suspend him for the season, maybe even a little more. Then use that precedent to scale up punishments for other players around the league who do stupid stuff.

This incident isn't all that bad comparatively, but not overdoing it on this suspension (especially after vastly under-doing it on his last suspension -- hitting a guy who's down defenseless on the ice because of your own elbow to the head is just completely unacceptable, and taunting him while he's being attended by trainers just exacerbates the issue) would be a missed opportunity by the league.

So I set the over under at 10 games...I am going over, mainly because he made it one shift before getting in trouble following a 9 game suspension. Gives a whole new meaning to repeat offender.

Just shows you, Mods get no special privileges here. Come on Dare......fix that!!! :D
It's a thankless, repless job.

I have no problem with that.

But I do agree that mods should be allowed to rep anyone and as often as they like.

agree -----------^
I'm thinking 12 for that very reason.
Isles have 17 games left, so they might go that route as well.

mitigating factors:
- victim was Clusterfuck
- who wasn't seriously hurt

in summary, who the fuck knows what goes on in Colie's hamster-brain

That should NEVER be a factor but as you said unfortunately it is. A cheap shot is a cheap shot the result of the action should not dictate the punishment.

Not sure if it will figure into Collie's decision or not, but he may consider that Cal also was charged with a penalty on the play.
