No he can't dean...it's in his contract. He is the president. I don't care what the website says. It is his role with the team. As president, he formed the front in a way that he is the GM as well. Mayhew has the title but Rivera is his boss and has final say. Draft night showed that.

Even if did happen, why would the new GM retain him?

I thought the owner could do whatever he wants. He can terminate the GM contract. Im not sure how that all works out.

all im saying expecting an NFC championship appearance this year like skinsdad said is crazy with this current roster. You have to be reasonable.
OK, but what's the price for being "reasonable?"
Should we wait another year, two years, five years? When exactly can we expect an NFC Championship?

no not blow it up give the job to JDR with the same coaching staff. MM takes on the GM duties for the year. I forgot about the Rooney rule.
Right but on day 1 while players are practicing?

It makes no sense.

Sure harris can, but he would have to change the contract because that is what his title is.

Also, why would we pay Rivera to be the president and de facto GM, but only have him coach?

I doubt Rivera would want a payout and again, you would be undermining your new GM by forcing him to work with Rivera. That is wrong.

That would be a disaster because rivera would take a demotion and the new GM would be forced to work with him.

Have you ever seen a head coach take a demotion to be an offensive or defensive coordinator with the same team?

It's not a good look.

but that is a demotion in a coaching position. Yes the Gm will be forced but RR seat will be super-hot.

And that would make sense to you?

You don't think we would run off candidates by harris telling them

"OH yeah, Rivera is the head coach regardless if you like it or not"

Why would any GM take the job under those conditions. You even admitted Rivera is just an ok coach.

Talk about dan snyder...that is something snyder would do.

You are not being honest Dean.
MM took the job because he was trying to work his way back into being relevant in the NFL.
MM isn't a true GM at all because he is in a coach centricRivera. He reports to the head coach.

No good GM would take the job being handcuffed to a bad coach like rivera.

i understand we are heading to a bad year. Even if it was a fluke, it was still beating a #2 seed with this current roster assembled by RR.
It’s has no impact at all in the long term

Correct. MM isn't the type of GM we want to rebuild the front office correct?
In other words, the type of GM we would want should have the ability to hire their own coach as they see fit.

i know it is. not disputing that. But he should get credit for beating a #2 seed in the playoffs. That shouldnt be swept under the rug.
We beat the superbowl runner up last season , so what ? RR was on the hot seat after the last off season

You just claimed firing Rivera mid season is something snyder would do.

You are now claiming that Harris already hiring Rivera or another HC and then forcing that on the new GM is ok?

beating teh #2 seed means something

I said he could stay if that happens. Alot of things have to be considered afte the season

No its not a mistake, Harris just wanted to clean house.
What does beating the number 2seed mean next year ?
