No one's happier for him than Claude Giroux.
one thing that will help in that situation though.. giroux is still RFA
I'd say Mike Ribeiro is happier right now. After all he's going to be the #1 center on the UFA market.
He becomes an UFA if not locked up by 2015 , right? Is the RFA max the same as UFA for cap hit?

The Leafs will have 20,808,825 in cap space this offseason.
The Flames will have 20,105,051 in cap space this offseason.
The Leafs have a lot more guys to sign than the Flames do though. Bozek, Gunnarson amongst others. The big name for Calgary of course is Iginla.
I'm not sure that his stock is that high. Yes, he's probably the top contender at this point, but I can see a lot of teams looking to the trade market instead. This could get even worse than the Brad Richards year.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers bought Richards out.
i heard some crazy that the Rangers would possibly move Gaborik as well. he only has one year left no? if they move Gabby and Richards they could rebuild around Nash and still have a very good team. they are in a good position (still think they gave up too much grit for Nash)

There is talk that THIS might be the "Brad Richards year".
Potential buyout coming.
24 million to just go away
i know its New York and MSG but damn ... maybe Sather should be going bye bye too
I know they've got a lot of re-signing to do this offseason, but St. Louis with Corey Perry would be absolutely lethal.

I'd hate to be in that division.
