ESPN announcers have apparently been directed to justify why there are so many bowl games

the ones for the Tulane/ULL game kept pointing out how many fans were in attendance (it was New Orleans with two LA teams, dickheads)

tonight, they keep talking about all the pushing and shoving

have you guys been hearing this crap in other games?

Well, at least they only own one conference and one team in the Big XII...so we got that going for us...which is nice.

I don't have a problem with number of bowl games. I do have a problem with all of them being on ESPN/ABC. I remember when I was growing up watching football on New Year's Day. It was great flipping between 3 different channels to watch games and having many of those have MNC implications.

i'm all for more games, i don't care how many crappy bowls there are--i'll usually watch

just don't try to justify having them with those stupid comments

we know it's for money, and that's ok -- more football for everybody

It's not like espn hasn't been hard selling the SEC for years and years.
Everyone outside of the SEC knows exactly what the OP is talking about.
For years now.

This. All except one of them are consolation prizes anyway, and heck - its a chance to watch more college football!

yep. I gave up on the prestige angle once 7 win teams started going to bowl games. Now that I've swallowed that bitter little pill, I say bring it on. Let's have everyone play an extra OOC game at a neutral site.

Those were great days. I remember when the local stations used to get to cover the home team if it wasn't a big national game. Its been a long time since channel 9 has seen the Trojans though. :violin:

More conspiracy fuel

Who owns the Broadcast Rights for the ACC? ESPN. Syracuse is in the ACC.

Who owns the Broadcast Rights for the B1G? Fox. Minnesota is in the B1G.

Who owns the Broadcast Rights for the SEC, the conference the officials are from? ESPN and CBS. The officiating crew is from the SEC.

Who owns the Broadcast Rights for the State of Texas? ESPN via owning the Longhorn Network and the rights to the Big 12.

I am now wearing my tinfoil hat. I am expecting more calls to go against Minnesota. I expect the announcers to espouse how GREAT Syracuse is and how bad Minnesota is.

You are only going to hear the talking heads going for the hard sell so they can keep their jobs.
