Clemson's 2020 game at Georgia Tech will be moved

The Clemson Insider confirmed Clemson will play the Yellow Jackets in 2020 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. What makes that game more interesting is the fact it will be Trevor Lawrence’s last college game played in his home area.

The game is expected to be the season opener and will be televised by ESPN or ABC.

According to The Atlanta Journal Constitution Georgia Tech is in a financial pinch and expressed interest in moving some of their home games from historic Bobby Dodd Stadium to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

They're strapped for cash. They're still paying like 3 fired basketball coaches and Geoff Collins wants to be like the top dogs and get around via helicopter like Saban and Kirby does.

Hey, Collins has earned it. He took Temple to the Independence Bowl. Sure, he ditched them before the game, where they were blown out by Duke. And sure, he might have also lost to Villanova. But he beat Tulsa damn it! If that's not worth a helicopter, I don't know what is!

That's their own fault.

We approached them twice, when we played them every year, about
moving the game to the Dome and they refused. We even offered
to play them at the Gator Bowl when they visited us.

They could play Georgia every other year at Mercedes to a full house.
Same with Clemson. When we played them yearly, they'd
sell-out when we came to town.

Now I understand that they would have the fewest fans for a home
game vs Georgia, Clemson or Florida State, but they still get the
money for it.

I know at one time the ACC either banned or talked about prohibiting neutral site conference games when UNC got upset over Duke moving a "home" game vs FSU to Jacksonville.

I heard that also, but I was under the impression that it only
applied when moving a home game out-of-state.

Tech moving a home game to Mercedes wouldn't fall under
\that category.
