Two solid efforts from the Pens to start the season. On the road against strong division rivals. I like it.

Malkin and Neal are looking awesome. Vitale with a great play to set up Kennedy, you have to think he keeps playing over Jeffrey after these two games. Defense looks like they've rebounded - Despres has ups and downs as someone said, but what a perfect bank pass to Vitale in the 1st. Crosby looks a little rusty, but that's normal for him.

I think Vitale should keep centering the 4th line and Jeffrey should get a shot with 71 and 18. Tangradi brings absolutely nothing at all.

Are you implying it was a dirty/illegal hit? Because if you take hits like that out of the game there will be no more good hits left. He lifted his head at the very last moment. Just can't skate like that going into the offensive zone.

Also, there were times in that game (ie much of the second period) where I was reminded of the elite Red Wing teams. The puck possession was remarkable. Crisp passing, etc. That said the third period was meh, but honestly the only issue I had all game was the short handed goal by Nash. Terrible, terrible turnover by Malkin. That said, Geno made up for it with two brilliant passes on the second Neal goal and the Dupuis goal.

I must say, the Pens look like they finally remember what got them over the hump in 2009...solid 2-way play and puck control.

No I wasn't, when you reach for the puck your head naturally goes down. It was just unfortunate was all I was saying.

Like the others, totally agree.

Actually with all three, Vitale needs to play every day on the 4th line he brings an energy that Jeffrey or Tangradi don't.

I would love to see Jeffrey get shifts with Neal/Malkin. The third forward on that line so far has been totally invisible, ala Tangradi. He looks as he did last year: slow, out of position and his hands are horrible so far.

There are multiple guys on the Pens team that are dirty hitters...Orpik is just a freight train. He has a past with the Erik Cole hit obviously, but I don't consider him a dirty guy at all, just really physical.
