He is the only real WR we have at this point. Reed is going to be great also but we need Garcon's counter part for next season.

I alwaya thought highly of garcon, but he is raking it to the next level now. I really wish we had someone oppositehim who scared defenses

Santana has seemed to disappear. I thought he would kill it in the slot, but RG3 just can't seem to find him or he just isn't getting open. Hank is having an OK year, but he doesn't scare anyone. Morgan just isn't effective as a receiver, but he is great at down field blocking. We do need to add a number 2 next year that can stretch the field and take some of the pressure off of Garcon.

having been saying it for awhile.....The Skins have a true #1 receiver in Garcon...He dont have as many TD as the rest of the top receivers, but heis Catchs and yards are definetly in the top of the league...We do need the #2 to help...Im hopeful that it appears ..maybe..Hankerson is starting to figure it out?????

Hank has improved every year. The problem is I just don't see enough separation on his routes or hardly any yards after catch. He appears to be mostly a possession receiver that can get the 8-12 yards you might need for a 1st. As big as he is, I sure would like to see him use his body in the end zone, but we've never really seen that. Part of the problem might be he is just playing part time. He splits snaps with Morgan and sometimes with Robinson. Maybe if he got more snaps, he would get a flow going.

i cant see where we get a # 2 wr next season unless hank takes that spot . why does he have to "scare " anybody ? (no you didnt say it ) how about simply make the plays that are there ?

right now i see a couple of mid-round draft picks being tried there

The reason why you want him (or any #2 or 3 WR) to "scare" somebody is so they have to devote resources to covering him, thereby freeing up Garcon or Reed in one on one coverage. If they can cover him with one guy without the threat of a big play, they they can double the other guys which stymies our passing game.

he doesnt need to scare people , just make plays that are there . the rest will come .

Scare people, maybe not. But be a VIABLE weapon, yes. So far, we have yet to see a second WR be that threat. Maybe, it will come, but at 8 games in, the time is now.

hankerson is improving and perhaps he can do the job . it depends on the targets he gets . last game he did well perhaps he turned a corner ? perhaps he didnt ? at the very worst the guy is a 3 or 4

Hank seems to be improving but the big problem seems to be the number of targets he gets. I think it was 5 times against the Chargers with 4 receptions. Do they or Griff trust him to step up? Number of targets don't seem to indicate that to this point. Maybe we see more vs. the Vikings. At least our receiving core didn't have drops this week. That's a huge improvement, especially since not all of Griffs throws were a thing of beauty. Regardless, catches have to be made if they are anywhere in the vicinity.

we just need a #2 wr that can get separation and get open. hank isnt there yet and morgan should probably only be on the field during running plays.

The redskins don't need a #2 wr that "scares" defensive coordinators. They need consistent play from the weapons they do have, including Hankerson, Morgan, Moss, Robinson. All of the aforementioned names have NOT made "the plays that are there."

Garcon and Reed are awesome playmakers, and Moss WAS an awesome 3rd down specialist last year, but RG3 hasn't progressed enough so that he can consistently find his second and third reads, so Moss isn't getting the looks he once did.

In other words, why force a throw to a diminutive, and not always sure-handed Santana Moss, when you can throw it to a big bodied, pretty tough, good route running tight end?

Honestly, I think an offseason spent learning how to get to your second reads faster, to throw the ball faster, to always use proper mechanics, and to take off the brace, and RG3 will be lights out.

what plays havent they made that were there ?. sure there are some drops , but RG3 has missed many throws to them and he certainly hasnt put the ball in a place where they can make more yds after the catch

perhaps these guys arent getting open or perhaps RG3 isnt getting thru his progressions fast enough

look morgan wont be back at his salary nor will moss at his so there could be openings for 2 spots

There will be at least one spot open. It depends if Moss decides to retire or not. If he wants to play one more year, I could see the Skins bringing him back for a small contract with no guarantee that he makes the team. I just can't see him going anywhere else at this stage in his career. Also, its not a given that Robinson is back.

So the question is how we fill the open slot(s). I can see us picking up a WR in the draft, in the mid rounds. I can also see us taking a run at a FA or 2, maybe somebody like a Golden Tate, Hakeem nicks or Jeremy Macklin. But I don't see us getting into a huge bidding war over any of these guys.

Hazard's Huddle: Leonard Hankerson vs. San Diego Chargers - Hogs Haven

here is a break down of hank vs the chargers

these clips show him getting seperation , running good routes , and making plays that are there

it also shows him open on a few occasions and not getting the ball

the good things are he is improving and could be , and i said could be turning the corner

anyway he had a nice game
