Darius Johnson - WR - Falcons

Darius Johnson (ankle) remained sidelined at Saturday's practice.

Johnson has a high-ankle sprain and isn't going to play Monday night in San Francisco. He's a candidate to be placed on season-ending injured reserve.

I'd like to scale Gore back over the last two weeks so he's fresh-ish in the playoffs. Atlanta is a great team to use a more open formation against. Let's see the team try some new things.

Which is why I'm more in favor or resting guys against Arizona if we clinch and they lose against Seattle.

The 5th seed doesn't guarantee we won't play Seattle in the Divisional Round and I would rather have guys like Smith, Iupati, Gore, and other guys with nagging injuries rested going into the playoff run.

I believe the main thing that's help is teams are more and more respecting our ability to pass and unlike the Carolina and Saints game Roman is making sure the passing game is a threat and taking what the defense gives them.

Exactly. We cannot afford not to take advantage of man-to-man coverage when teams decides to put 8 men in the box. We need to exploit and challenge them whenever they give us a man-to-man look. I have confidence in both Boldin and Crabtree to adjust to the ball on back shoulder throws or out muscle a corner for the ball during these looks. If they continue to play Davis man to man (Barron example) then allow him to go deep as well, even if the attempts falls incomplete. It sends a clear message to the defense in telling them to respect the pass even if we a box up together in a bunch formation.

Mario Manningham - WR - 49ers

Mario Manningham (knee, illness) is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Manningham has played the last six weeks despite being listed as questionable, though the illness cost him to miss practice time on Thursday and Saturday. He should be all systems go as San Francisco's No. 3 receiver for Monday night's game against the Falcons.

Frank Gore - RB - 49ers

Frank Gore (ankle, knee) is listed as probable for Monday night's game against the Falcons.

Gore was limited in practice this week, but his status was never in doubt. He's Rotoworld's No. 13 overall running back for Week 16.

Michael Crabtree - WR - 49ers

Michael Crabtree (ankle, wrist) is listed as probable for Week 16.

Crabtree was a full participant in practice all week and hasn't missed any games since returning from his Achilles' injury. He's a low-end WR2 for Monday night's matchup with the Falcons.

Vance McDonald - TE - 49ers

49ers TE Vance McDonald (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 16.

McDonald will likely miss his second straight game after being limited in practice throughout the week. Garrett Celek will replace him in two-tight end sets behind Vernon Davis.

TEs usually take 2 years to develop. He is great at blocking which was not his strong suit at the start of the season and he is getting better at catching too. I think he will have a real strong second season.

I agree next year he will break out. Look at the 1st TE drafted this year. He just started to play well the last couple of weeks. Tyler Eifert

I'm looking forward to what should be some pretty good pre-game and half time stuff about events and people from the Stick's glory days.

Matt Barrows:

Mike Iupati not warming up with practice-squad/reserve o linemen before game. Might be a sign he is playing.

Whatever happens this week, we need him back next week. I don't want Snyder going up against Dockett and Campbell. At all. They might just decide to pay him back for getting that fairly hefty salary and then sucking.

49ers 10-0 this season when out-rushing or when they win the time of possession battle.

It's also Jim Harbaugh's 50th birthday today.
