If the Bengals only keep two QB's on the roster, I really hope it is Dalton and Skelton.

I liked Johnson's mobility, but I was not that impressed with his composure and accuracy.

Skelton has a freaking cannon for an arm. With him wearing the #9 it looked like Palmer in there zipping that ball, but the difference was Skelton actually completed that pass for a TD instead of throwing a pick to the crossing safety.

If they can hide a 3rd QB on the roster, without it counting against the 53 man, then Johnson will be a good 3rd QB to stash away incase of injury and last resort.

Dane is also making a case to unseat Whalen as the 6th WR on the roster.

Green, Sanu, Jones, Hawkins, Hamilton, Dane S.

I am so tired of Tate, I hope he just gets cut early to allow him to try and hook on with another NFL team.

I don't know who I want at backup QB. Skeleton made a nice pass, but he was playing against a lot of guys who probably won't make the team. Johnson was out there against 2nd stringers. Desmond Trufant was still out there. Plus Johnson is a great athlete and Skeleton is a statue.

You're a moron. This is the only explanation.

Lol. Leave it to Crash to show up and make ridiculous statement in his lifelong defense of Dalton. We get it. You don't want Dandy's spot challenged. Go back and watch Johnson's TD pass and then say he lacked accuracy. And if you're going to dog a guy for not looking poised in the pocket, are you even watching Dalton?

I saw enough in Johnson to at least want to see him with starters playing against starters. He certainly has the arm strength to fit the ball into tight windows, which is one of the several issues with Dalton. They should also probably keep Skelton, who does have a cannon. I'm not ready to anoint Johnson as the starter now, as some here seem to be, but at least he puts some pressure on Andy to improve. Both Skelton and Johnson appear to be upgrades over Gradkowski.

If either of these guys is as good as Dalton, we should just call the whole thing off. It's preseason.

of course, stranger things have happened in the NFL

....

Other than Green, Sanu, and Jones, I don't see any WR as being safe, they give Tate a lot of slack though.

Johnson is the #2. There's no debate. He's looked better all mini-camp and OTA's, or whatever, and he played very well against the #2's.

Skelton, by all accounts, has looked lost as he still doesn't grasps the WC offense, of which Johnson has a background, and Skelton does not.

The announcers made the point last night that Tate is a fantastic practice player. This has to be why the guy has stuck around so long. They keep waiting for the light to come on in the game and it just doesn't happen.

He is probably a fantastic practice player because he is routinely going up against second stringers. I have to seriously doubt he ever runs with the 1s

Dalton's job is not in jeopardy and never will be in jeopardy with just Johnson and Skelton on the depth chart.

So there is no point in worrying about calling for a guy to be #2 that will challenge Dalton, because it will never happen.

So if I was to pick a backup QB, I want a guy who has been a decent starter in this league, has a cannon for an arm, and has led his team to come from behind victories.

Josh Johnson has been a horrible starter in this league, and I can't believe Kramer would be defending a guy with his numbers. But one long run, and all of a sudden he is better than a QB who has broken nearly all Bengals record in his first two years in the league.

Dalton has a long ways to go to prove that he is the long term solution here, but none of the guys behind him are worth more than a backup roll and probably never will be. So all of you sucking off that Johnson - guy, look at his numbers from the past in similar offenses.

It's for your own good. If it registered as p#rn the adds that appear above your thread would be a little much.
