I saw an interview with Dinkledge in which he was alleging that the reason people hated the final season so much is because they loved the series so much that they didn't want to see it go. Kind of like a jilted lover thing, I guess.

Sure, hafling. Another possibility is that people hated the final season because it sucked ass.

I didn't think the ending was as bad as most

Really the problem was it was too rushed. Dany did a 180 in a few episodes after spending seven seasons getting there.
