the thing that kind of bothers me is that I feel like Cersei needs to be fucked up by the NK. She bailed on sending her army and deserves to feel the wrath.

Now it becomes a good guys vs bad guys type thing, which is way lamer.

I am okay with this part. Season one was fantastic, and it was mostly political intrigue. The whitewalkers was a sub story that went nowhere early. I don't see why without them it can't go back the original great show.

but they aren't a substory! they fit into the main story as much as any of the other families as they are looking to sit on the same throne.

I would have like to see Cersei come to Winterfall and then turn on them after the NK is disposed of, sliding a knife into Dany's ribs or something

my question about all that is who can question that religion after seeing what she had done? Why wouldn't everyone be like "yo, that red god is legit!"?

her magic was waning too, why it took so long to get trench lit

she did seem shocked to see she had actually lit it

Still think it would have been a good visual to have her call upon her diety and set herself aflame as her last act and wipe out a bunch of undead and save the humans. For a show that loves redemption themes, just seems like a missed opportunity....

After everything they've seen, Who can question the Old Gods, either?

Ser Davos would have happily helped her shed the mortal coil if she wasn't going to do it herself.

That would have worked for me ... even if he almost did it, at the least second realized she'd helped save Winterfell and decided to stay his hand, then she did it for him.

Mind you, I'm not really upset by it, it just made me go ...

Hmmmm, what if Qybrun rams a piece of dragonglass into Cersei's heart after she has supposedly been killed..... of course, not until after Cleganebowl has occurred.

The New Gods and Drowned God seem to be bullshit, though.

Maybe in the books. In the show they are not well defined and what they are looking for is vague. I think the Deus Ex ending for them is fitting for how little development they had actually been given.

I don't see it as all that vague. Pretty clearcut to me.

I think it depends on whether the next two books are done or not.

There's 2 more? I thought there would only be one. Excellent!

He was certainly keeping an eye on her after the fight. Ser Davos is a great character.

My dearest hope is that this series ends with Bob Newhart waking up in his bed in Chicago and telling Emily he had the most horrible dream

Clearcut, but one dimensional. No depth, silent dude shows up and is menacing because reasons. They did not really mention what his goal was until the second episode of 8, and even then they never give a why.

Maybe I am alone on this, but I found the whitewalkers to be one of the least interesting villains I have ever witnessed.

GRRM is the Bruno Caboclo of the writing world.
He's two years away from being two years away.....

He certainly seems to apply to the "Slow and steady wins the race" theology

They were really interesting when used properly (Hardhome).

In the case of Robert Jordan it worked out, only because Sanderson is a better author.
