No.

A Trail by Combat is requesting to be judged by the gods.

In trail by combat, whoever dies first reflects the loser. If the other dies even minutes or days later from the wounds, he still represents the winner.

As soon as his head exploded at the hands of the mountain, Tyrion knew he was fucked, even with the Mountain being stabbed in the stomach.

It's why Tywin immediately announced that "the gods had made their will known" and Tyrion was sentenced to death.

Trail by Combat did exist in cultures like Germany and Britian in the medieval ages, but Game of Thrones adds a lot of extra rules to it that's developed from fantasy books. But the basic premise is the same.

As for the little boy write in, I knew where they were going with that earlier on when he got to Castle Black and he went on about how he could shoot a bow.

Still was a great episode. Really one of my favorites to date. Next week is going to be tremendous.

I figured they would have him kill the Thenn that killed his family. They should have kept the death the same as the books where Jon just finds her and it's not clear who shot her. Ygritte was too good of a character to deserve getting sniped by a 10 year old who was about to shit his pants a few minutes beforehand. I could understand him getting a bunch of courage if he saw the guy who killed his parents, but this was poorly handled IMO.

Overall still a good episode. Seems like they are saving most of the final "Oh shit!" moments for next week.

I liked that it was a little kid that killed Ygritte. Actress Natalie Tena, who plays Osha, stated in an interview prior to season four that the TV series will increasingly make changes from the books.

Making changes from the books is a good thing, IMO. Some measure of creative license and artistic freedom must be given to the makers of the show. Their hands should not be restrained based on the exact occurrences in the books.

After all, if the TV program was identical to the books, then why bother even making a TV series?...it would be pointless, artistically. Example...if I see/hear a musical artist performing a famous song from the past, I want to see the artist create their own interpretation of the song, not something identical to the original.

Creative license must not be stifled!



Speaking of actress Natalie Tena (Osha)........Osha & Rickon Stark have still not made an appearance in the show ever since they split-off from Bran's party after spending the night at the tower way back in the red wedding episode of season three.






I'm assuming Osha and Rickon Stark will appear in the season four finale.
