Not saying it would have saved him. But it would have been something easy for Jon to do. To say "Drop!" or "Turn Right!" Or even just swing his arms wildly to the right for him to move when he saw Ramsay draw back.

It could only have helped.

Maybe but without any or minimal training at most, how would Rickon know how to respond to Jon's orders. Ramsey knew Rickon wasn't trained. He never would've tried this with a trained soldier.

In some circles it's excepted as a natural instinct to make yourself a harder target. I've had firearms training that teaches a step to the side while drawing because some think the body naturally wants to do this. It also gets you on the move because few people stand stationary while someone is trying to kill them.

Rickon was running, yes. In a direct line though. He was young though. And scared. I can definitely see that point.

Exactly, now you're seeing my point. The best thing for Rickon to do would've been to try to find some kind of cover, i.e get behind one of crosses with the burning flayed men and wait for Jon and/or his army to reach him. Running in the open even if you zig-zag isn't the best way to avoid getting killed.
