Pats at Baltimore for a Sunday night contest. Kickoff at 8:25 PM.

Ravens are coming off a Bye.

It looks as though the week of rest and recuperation came at the right time for the Baltimore Ravens. After having their Week 8 bye, the Ravens are preparing for the New England Patriots and are getting healthier.

According to coach John Harbaugh, linebacker Patrick Onwuasor, wide receiver Marquise Brown and cornerback Jimmy Smith are all “on track” to play in Week 9 against the Patriots.

While Harbaugh did throw in the caveat that “you never know,” Baltimore will need all the help they can get in this matchup.

Brown and Onwuasor missed the last two games with ankle injuries, while Smith has played just one game this season, suffering a knee sprain after just six snaps in Week 1. Though Brown and Onwuasor failed to practice at all ahead of the Ravens’ Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks, Smith returned to the practice field as a limited participant.

Brown is the Ravens’ primary deep threat, forcing opposing defenses to pay special attention to him and opening up other routes underneath. Without Brown in the lineup, the Ravens’ offense has stagnated. He’s been one of quarterback Lamar Jackson’s favorite targets this season, targeting him 39 times in spite of playing in just five games.

Onwuasor is the expected starter at inside linebacker, though the play of L.J. Fort and Josh Bynes over the last two weeks has been significantly improved and could cause Baltimore to make a change in the lineup. Still, Onwuasor is a major part of the Ravens’ defense, especially considering how thin the team is at the position.

While Baltimore did pull off a trade for Los Angeles Rams cornerback Marcus Peters, the Ravens could use Smith’s presence. At his best, Smith is a Pro Bowl caliber cornerback that is physical down the field and able to match up with the top wide receivers in the league. Once he returns, defensive coordinator Don Martindale will be able to be even more creative with his schemes.

This is an especially big game for Baltimore. The Patriots are one of just two undefeated teams in the league. A win over New England would not only boost the Ravens to 6-2 on the season, but it would also give them a conference win and a tiebreaker over the Patriots for a playoff berth at the end of the season. In addition, it would be Baltimore’s second consecutive statement win, putting them among the best teams in the NFL and potentially a huge boost of confidence as well.

The Browns - The Browns! exposed a lot of weaknesses against the Pats.

Lets hope that Belichick can duct-tape the O-line together and the D can remember how to tackle.....

No rain? Patriots 27 - Ratbirds 20

Devin McCourty's tackling has gone to shit. He's retiring at the end of the season, unfortunately his tackling retired at the beginning of the season.

Defense gets it done, no TD's allowed, scores a pick 6 or fumble recovery.
Offense scores as well.

With a "prediction" like that you need to be more specific...

In an act of desperation he'll try to make a big time play by himself and get his ankle rolled over Mahomes-style by a player of either team. I could be wrong but I think the Pats are gonna be ready for him and he's gonna take some sacks.

Nice breakdown of the game was on last night.

They felt that the Patriots biggest challenge will be keeping Lamar Jackson in the pocket and forcing him to throw the ball. He's the leading rusher in the NFL because the defenses haven't been able to keep him from running. Ted Johnson broke down several plays and what the defense did and didn't do that allowed him to just take off. From the films, he has his most difficult times when the defense rushes three, then keeps four LBs spread across the field about 3 yards off the line of scrimmage. It force him to move, not run laterally and the defense can easily keep up with the receivers.

They think that N'Keal Harry will be a huge problem for the defense. They think that he'll be sent down the sideline for 10-20 yards and pull a safety over to help. Edelman will go out between 8 and 12 yards cross over causing bit of a jam . Dorsett will go high speed down the other sideline and Sanu will cruise up and then go diagonally across the field. They all have excellent hands and the Raven will have to cover everyone close as possible..................which will allow James White or Sony Michel to slip into a little gap and make hay. No question that this game will be interestin and exciting.

Ahh game planning the part of the game as fans we tend to overlook. We all know the Pats will have a plan and hopefully execute it. BB is a master at taking away a teams best weapon this could be fun.

On the plus side the Pats now have LB’s that are tailor-made to defend what the Ravens do offensively. So it should just be a matter of execution.

Nick Bosa TE Baltimore Ravens decided that he'd give the Patriots' defense something to think about....when asked how he felt about playing against the Patriots' #1 defense...

"They haven't seen anyone like our offense."

Is that bulletin board material or will it confuse everyone who reads it??

Here is what I see happening. BB will rely heavily on our secondary, the objective will be stop the run at all costs, make Jackson beat us with his arm. A lot of 3 / 4 maybe even with Jackson having a mirror, most athletic LB I would guess.

On the road must score early and often at all costs must try to take crowd out of game. Gonna be a good one boys

No offense, but if you can't get his right then the team will look at this on the bulletin board and just go "Huh?"... And I'm not being critical of you ability to recall this name, just that your ability is indicative of how meaningful the statement is...
