I hate that the Pens are considered 'easy' opponents :smow:

FUCK YOU STECKEL, and FUCK YOU MYERS

:pout:

Dude, the Pens are never an easy out. They may be the best coached team in the league and Fleury is ridiculous. I just like the way that the Caps have matched up against them more recently than I like a shootout with the lightning or a clutch and grab with the Habs. After the first round, there are no easy opponents, just better matchups.

Please do not take this as trash talk or a slight.

This season had highs after Crosby/Malkin went out, but let's not let the team overachieving cloud our senses. We were up in this series 3-1. I will certainly have some fond memories of this season regardless of outcome and never expected us to win the Cup with the current squad, but that doesn't change the fact that leaving a 3-1 lead on the table is a choke job.

It would be tough knowing they only needed one more out of three and they couldn't do it. It still wouldn't change how I think about this team.

I don't think there were many people who either work in the industry or who are fans of the NHL that thought the Penguins would remain where they did through the final months of the season.

The playoffs are obviously a completely different situation. When the Pens were playing with desperation and winning in the regular season, now their opponents have matched that intensity in the playoffs, and the shortcomings of the team show through.

I don't take it as trash talk. I completely understand where you are coming from.

If the Pens were skating a healthy team and they had an opportunity to draw Washington in the playoffs without Ovechkin and Backstrom... trust me, I would be rooting for that match-up.

It just blows that this playoff season didn't have Sid and Geno in it. Regardless of who your rooting interests are with, not having the best players in the world playing in the playoffs sucks. Everyone loses.

Malkin and Crosby missing does make a dent in the overall level of the playoffs for sure, as it would be if any of those caliber players were out.

And Jeff, Malkin and Crosby are undeniably two of the best players in the world.

It's easier to stir the pot when there isn't cement in it. :D

I have no fucking idea what that means, it just sounded good.

This statement was meant to include all the best NHL'ers in the game. Even that 7 foot giraffe with skates that eats babies for breakfast known as Chara. It takes away from the excitement if the best players in the world aren't in uniform.

Lightning skating in the dark :D:D:D
A funny thing happened during practice. In the middle of a drill the lights went out on the ice only. All the other lights in the Iceoplex at Southpointe from the sports bar to the crane game remained on. Those were the only lights the Bolts had as they tried to continue their practice. They did get the lights back on toward the end. “Welcome to Game 7,” one of the assistant coaches said. Coincidence or conspiracy? One Pittsburgh media member said the establishment is no longer owned by the Penguins, but one really has to wonder.

Getting my usual wrap for lunch today and the two big black dudes that work at the Haven (one of our food spots...grill and deli, etc.) spotted my jersey (yellow Lemieux) and chatted it up with me about Pitt, because they were both from the area, and the Pens. It was hilarious when the guy saw me in this one, because just last week he saw me in my black diagonal Pitt one, and said "Oh man. Where'd you get that? That's hot." Then he saw who's it was "The Legend! I want one of those!" Good to know I'm not completely alone in my cornfield.
