Saints are tough. Don't have all of the pieces but fight like hell every week.

Judon and Gonzalez will be leaving the defense vulnerable to a passing attack.

This is going to be a slug fest.

The Saints aren't all that good and the Pats were humiliated yesterday.

Pats by four.

I don't know what's going to happen this week. Have not heard on the key injuries yet either.
Normally, we would be looking at the Saints as a "gimme" but not at this time.
O-line still hurting, 3 best CB's out, Best pass rusher out, other pass rushers not rushing.
QB having a nervous breakdown......

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Patriots EDGE Matthew Judon is out indefinitely with a biceps injury.
Judon is seeking a second opinion after being diagnosed with a lower bicep tendon tear in Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys. The veteran EDGE rusher will likely miss several weeks with the injury and could be a candidate for injured reserve. A leader of the Patriots’ defense since joining them as a free agent in 2021, Judon has four sacks and 13 tackles this season and has totaled 32 sacks over the last three seasons.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury.
Gonzalez exited Week 4’s contest against the Cowboys with a shoulder injury and didn’t return to the game. We don’t yet know the exact nature of his injury or the severity of it, but according to Schefter, Gonzalez is seeking a second opinion on his injury. Gonzalez earned Defensive Player of the Month honors last weekend, and stood tall against stout group of receivers through his first three games. The loss of the promising young rookie is one of two blows the Patriots were dealt on Sunday, with Matthew Judon (biceps) also out indefinitely.

Judon is definitely going to be gone for a minimum of six weeks. Most likel6y the second opinion will recommend surgery like the first one. I don't know what they do with a lower biceps tendon tear. Surgery will end his season.

Two reports I've read on Gonzalez are a bit conflicting. One says it's a dislocated shoulder. The other says it's a torn labrum. Dislocation would put him out for a couple of weeks. A torn labrum would require surgery and end his season.

Either way, the defense has been weakened significantly. Rotation is going to change.

**QB Will Grier said yesterday, "I don't make the decisions. If Coach tells me to play, I'm ready to play." Did the coach tell you to get ready??

Gonzales suffered a dislocated shoulder and is now on IR.
I suffered a dislocated shoulder and it felt pretty normal a few days later. I then suffered multiple dislocations that ended in surgery after dislocating my shoulder while sneezing. My Orthopedic specialist, familiar with athletes, said, "you should have immediately gone into a sling for 3 weeks"

On the Saints side, Carr's recovery to his shoulder injury is the key to the game. If he's healthier it's a very tough matchup for the Pats. They already have a good defense.

Today will determine whether or not this team will be circled as a win for any other team they face in 2023.
Up until now, the Patriots were a "maybe?" Overall, the Saints are about where the Patriots are, maybe a bit better.

They have a solid OL. They have very good WR. They have Derek Carr coming back who has a decent backup Jameis Winston.
They also have Tysom Hill who can play QB, WR or TE and is someone that has to be accounted for. They also have Alvin Kamara at RB who will occupy the DL.

If the Patriots lose, one would have to think that this team will not have the leadership or ability to get up, dust itself off and push forward. The schedule will not be friendly and they still have seven games on the road and some really tough games against the best in the AFC at home.
A loss today and the Patriots will be blessed, not lucky to finish the season at 4-13.
