Detroit D playing better than expected - and the O is doing their contribution. Just my observation from tracking the game, not watching.

On the road against an above .500 team. Who‘d a thunk it.

I know FB Jason Cabinda missed two of his three targets - that he could've easily caught, however, Cabinda had 8 great blocks today to spring Jamaal and Justin for either first downs, two TDs by Williams, or long gains. This is only his 2nd game back. Cabinda was a big contributor in the run game today and so was Kalif Raymond, AR-SB and Tom Kennedy at times - those three WR provided 2nd level blocking for each other in the receiving game.

It felt like our Dline dominated their oline all day. I was surprised to see only 2 sacks. Credit Jones ability to escape, because he was on the run constantly.

I was getting pissed at AG for slacking off the pressure during the 4th quarter mark 0f 9+ minutes to go on down to the 4-minute mark. He dialed back the pressure and had more off-man coverage or zone coverage and allowed Jones to either pick them apart at or near the sideline for throws or Jones simply looked like your Vanilla Vick.

Keep the heat on when you're up because sitting in soft coverages means you're going to give up big plays anyway.

Brad Holmes needs to completely remake the entire LB corps and CB corps.

Jerry Jacobs wasn't very good today even though, at times, he had decent to good tight coverage.

The rest of those CB need to go - Mike Hughes, Will Harris and Amani Oruwariye - anyway all three are UFA

And Brad Holmes, please draft some damn CB that have loose, oily hips who can flip and run and also possess elite catch-up speed.

I'm tired of watching quick twitch receivers gaining 5 yards of separation early on in their route against pretty much of the entire DB group.

I think it is only fair that if at least one of the 1sts is not on a CB we all get to punch Holmes in the dick

Hutch is rounding into form with his run defense and Alim McNeil looked like a Pro Bowl NT today. McNeil was mostly dominate the entire game beating double teams often.

I would take any of the following at the present time for possible drafted prospects at the CB position - not in order though at this time

Devon Witherspoon
Cam Smith
Christian Gonzalez
Joey Porter

Kelee Ringo is great at being physical, but his hips are too tight to recover and that may also include Porter

Anyone noticed that the Lions haven't missed TJ Hockenson one tiny bit?

Brock Wright appears to more than worthy of getting as many reps as possible during these last 7 games and need to get TE James Mitchell more game action.

This isn't going to be good for the CB group.

Too much friendly fire

Safeties coach Brian Duker said earlier in the month that friendly fire was going to happen due to the intensity of the defense. Football is a physical game, so there’s no surprise that collisions between teammates will occur. A few weeks ago, Jeff Okudah knocked Julian Okwara and Kerby Joseph on friendly-fire collision. Malcolm Rodriguez was injured by a teammate in the same game.

Sunday’s outing against the Giants saw multiple friendly-fire incidents, and it makes you wonder if something needs to change. The most significant injury occurred when Okudah was blasted by teammate Will Harris, resulting in Okudah exiting the game with a brain injury. Due to concussion protocols, it seems unlikely that Okudah will play on Thanksgiving. Derrick Barnes, Kerby Joseph, and Aidan Hutchinson were each shaken up at one point following a collision with a teammate. Thankfully, all three players returned to the game.

It’s hard to say what can be done to alleviate this problem. Teammates obviously don’t want to hurt each other, but it’s hard to tell your tacklers to tone it down, as a split second of indecisiveness can cost you.

UPDATE: Jeff Okudah is OUT for Thanksgiving vs. Bills, per Dan Campbell

UPDATE 2: According to Lions coach Dan Campbell, Okudah does not have enough time to clear concussion protocol for Thursday’s game against the Buffalo Bills:

“No,” Campbell said. “Yeah, he’ll be out. I can’t imagine—I’m pretty sure—we just talked about it and I don’t think there’s any way possible he can play.”

Look at the blocks by Cabinda and of ALL players Kalif Raymond on Jamaal Williams first TD.
