figured we might as well have a separate thread for all the ridiculous (and not so ridiculous) trade proposals that are sure to come with all the losing...

Here is an intriguing on to me:
Nemo, murray, and clowe to CGY for Backlund and a 1st rounder. The reasoning:

for the sharks: Griess has looked quite good, I think. He got lit up by CBJ, but he actually made a bunch of very solid saves early in the game to keep them in it. While he wasnt great, he also was pretty solid. He was excellent in his other two starts against ANA and COL. he was solid last year and the year before in his limited action. Furthermore, stalock and sateri seem to be doing well in the AHL. The sharks need to get much younger, especially up front and need to restock the farm. clowe and murray are UFA's-to be and I want neither back. I dont think the sharks need their physicality either in light of stuey's physical play and desi and others also able to fight. This will obviously hurt the sharks this year, but will help make the rebuild a whole lot faster.

for CGY: first, with kipper out, the flames are using 3rd and 4th string goalies. If they want a chance to make the PO's this year, they need to get some goaltending help. Nemo immediately solidifies the position for 3 years and comes at a very reasonable price tag. Clowe gives them a potential boost on a team with a thin offense and murray gives them a good defensive dman (or maybe we can make them believe that) wince giving up too many goals is a big problem for them. Basically it addresses all of their needs this year and with backlund out, they lose basically nothing this season. it's hurts their future, but with a team that asnt made the POs for 3 straight years, they;ve gotta be chomping at the bit to make a run.

Note: since the flames are acquiring some 10M in cap hit with only 725k going the other way, maybe the sharks would need to acquire some salary in return. perhaps anton babchuk and blake comeau come back as a salary dump.

Man I'm worried Havlat is going to turn into a boat anchor for us. Hopefully it's the strategy and lack of constant line-mates that is the problem. Otherwise we are stuck with him for a long time if he doesn't accept a trade.

At some point we gotta think about moving Boyle for some cheaper youth. Then try Burns in his role.

Trading Clowe is a must.

I don't see Jumbo or Patty OKing a trade out of their marshmallow comfort zone.

Boyle might get the most value return for some desperate team making a Cup run. No one is going to take Murray and Clowe.

Trading boyle would be a major mental blow even though its clearly better in the long term. Nemo seems like the most realistic target only becasue why have nemo on the team when griess is doing just fine, sateri and stalock are doing fine in the AHL. Nemo eats up nearly 4M in cap space. Keeping him only makes sense if you want to make a cup run now. His trade value is high, especially to a team like CGY, FLA, WPG, or TBL. TBL especailly is #1 in offense but only 7-6-1 since lindback and Garon are hardly proven. Boobu Lu is too expense for too long for a team to take like that to take a shot. nemo would be a prize for them. How many cup winning goalies with a GAA under 2 and save % of .930 are there? His start has got to have shot up his stock through the roof, and that's the perfect time to sell and get a top young forward and hopefully a good prospect/pick as well.

To me, he is dougie's #1 chip and hopefully he can parlay that into a big step for the future. I dont mind if griess and or stalock/sateri platoon for a bit. If they play well, then the return from enmo is free and saves 3M on the cap for a couple years. If they stink, then it's not a big difference since the team isnt going anywhere for a while anyways, and now you know what youve got. Seems to make perfect sense to me.

I don't want Doug Wilson to make any moves unless it is to shed the dead weight and dump salary. I am still fucking infuriated by the Jamie McGinn trade. Ginner has 11 points in 14 games and is hitting everything that moves. Meanwhile Winnik, who didn't do damn thing for us last year but still played hard, which is more than you can say about 90% of our lineup each night, is in Anaheim and TJ Galiardi is eating chicken wings in the press box. Such an epic waste of a young player who is going nowhere but up. Jamie had some rough nights but I feel like this team desperately misses his speed and ability to take the body, I know I do. I'm so tired of watching these loafs on cruise control.
