I guess I have missed what you mean.Bennie.....this is what you're bringing?
Generally speaking, as in 100% of the time, the player/team would be better off by having a single instead of a walk. And the fan enjoys it more too.
Can you honestly name me once where you've seen a guy get a walk and you said to yourself, "thank goodness he got that walk. For a minute there I was afraid he was gonna get a hit?"
That kind of "general speaking" you're speaking of here?
I'm messing with ya..........but still.
Chi Chi goes 5 innings while giving up 2 hits and 2 walks and 0 runs with 5 strikeouts.

not bad
Many times a walk is not as good as a single. Runners move up more often and sometimes more bases on singles. It also gives the opposing defense a chance to make a mistake. I think a hit wears on a pitcher mentally as well even more than a walk does. Walks are good, but I would rather have a single.
I watched some of the FC Dallas game tonight. Mark Followill does the games. I wish the Rangers would consider giving him a job in the booth. For those of you who don't know who he is, he does the play by play for the Mavs. He reminds me a little of Lewin.

Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker suffered a fractured medial epicondyle, the bone that anchors the Tommy John graft in his elbow, according to Bay Area News Group.
Parker suffered the injury while throwing a pitch during his rehab start on Friday. He immediately went to the ground, grabbing at his arm after a pitch went flying past the catcher. It is unclear if Parker will need to undergo a second Tommy John surgery to repair the damage done. Athletics trainer Nick Paparesta said Parker will need surgery, but it's not clear yet how much.
Parker was working his way back from the surgery he underwent last March.
At least we aren't the only ones that get hosed by the injuries, thoug
Jake Odorizzi and his 2.21 ERA is on the hill against today (1st pitch 12:10). It's gonna be a long/tough day if we don't show some patient/discipline.
But we've got Wandy on the hill to counter, so maybe we'll see a low scoring game with a pleasant outcome.
Yeah it is kind of hard to be optimistic about this one when you look at what we did last night against a guy with an ERA in the 5's.
Radio has to be better. They are your picture of the game. TV analysts don't need to be so definitive because we have a game to view for ourselves. I personally don't pay much attention to Buzz and Tag. I get much more from watching the game and learning from baseball people here. Depends on your needs and likes. We have had such great radio play by play guys now for years. It is amazing how opposite we are with our TV analysts.
