I thought that was a good match for Federer. He played against a good player, and experienced some crucial moments.

I watched Federer's studio interview on Tennis Channel, after the match.

He said about the same thing. He said mentally, for his confidence, this was a great match. He said it was good to experience those moments, because otherwise he would be rusty.

Also, I like watching Federer construct points on clay. He has so many different ways to play points.

Even if he doesn't win the tourney, it's good to be in a competitive setting, play good players, and gain confidence.

FYI Federer's match is streaming on Peacock right now.

I will probably have to pause it soon, then watch the replay and continue from where I left off, later.

The only problem with Fed’s tight four set win is that it is depleting his mental energy reserves more than his physical energies. The next one should be easier hopefully. He is 2-0 vs this guy. Well the important thing is he moved into second week.

NBC killing Fed and rightfully so.

If you knew you were going to quit then should have quit during the match yesterday instead of creating a hole in the draw. He knew what he was doing and he did a very selfish thing.

I thought this was a great match.

Koepfer played very well. And it was important for FED to be involved in a competitive match, and exercise his decision making.

This will help him later this year.

Very good decision by Fed to withdraw. That way his mental reserves are not depleted and he can make a strong push in the grass.

If you say so it must be right.

It’s sad for Serena losing so easily and early. Hopefully she can time her last slam victory with the USO.

I was disappointed.

He was playing great.

And getting mentally stronger, by being in competitive points and matches.

He's withdrawing because Halle is right after the FO. There's no one week break.

But cmon, does he really need to play Halle? He was 1 match away from possibly facing Djokovic, and it would have given him at least another chance to get used to Djokovic, and try some competitive strategies.

Actually it is a good idea and in the past has worked wonders as good as a formula can. Play a few clay rounds on RG, maybe defend some points or gain some points in the small clay events, then do Halle and play and win Wimby. That was when he was in his prime. He is just sticking to comfort food I guess.

Yes, but he also made deep runs at RG too. He didn't pull out.

Two years ago he made it to the SFs at RG, and was 1 point away from winning Wimbledon.

The women’s semis and final lineup sounds like something from the junior Slam event. I have no idea who they are.

American players ( females) suck on clay and men players suck in general. No more tennis greatness coming from this region anytime soon.
The ginormous egos are to blame I think.

They're all new. This is my first time seeing them too.

Kenin and Gauff are pretty good. Stephens has made a RG Finals before.
