when is it scheduled to got to 72? over a period of time so when the cba expires they can go through the dance of lockout again lol

Revenu was up this year and they r projecting it to go up again next year

Heard it said more than a couple times by the "experts" that the cap could be at least 72 mill for 2014-15

Too bad the season doesn't start tomorrow.

Plenty of time to work out deals.

LOL but I bet Niskanen will be dealt and if Bortuzzo accepts the RFA tender Engelland will/should be dealt.

Igninla's one year deal with Boston, shame to see him go there but that is a great deal for him and the Bruins for one year.

....uhhh...wait the last time a big time player came to the Penguins via trade and left for that opposing team that off-season they beat them in the same round of the playoffs the following year.

So does that mean the Penguins are going to the Stanley Cup Finals next season?

I agree.

I'd rather not see Engelland skate in a Pens uni again.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 5m
Iggy deal: $1.8 M base salary, $3.7 M games played bonus, $500,000 goal scoring/team playoff performance: total $6 M

How much of that is Cap hit? The full 6 or just the 1.8, as it's "guaranteed"?

I guess I can rush out and get an Bruins Iginla jersey now :D

There are probably TONS of them in second-hand shops all around Southern Mass.

Can't be any until 2021 (8 year opt out)

Cap'll be 100m by then.

i think right now his cap hit is only 1.8. if he hits his incentives, it gets counted towards the cap next season

The two forwards the Isles signed were 1 year deals that totaled 2.7M. They got Boyes for 1M last year & gave Bouchard 2M to take his place. I swear Garth even goes cheap on Free Agent Frenzy day. At least Hamonic is signed for the next 7 years for under 4M per.

Yeah I'm not too excited about facing... well the Pens facing Hamonic for the next 7 yrs... little piker.

nice that they completely fucked a few teams by the unnecessary downward spike then
why not just freeze the cap until revs hit x

$1.8m cap this year.
bonuses can pile on to next year's cap.

I thought it was just players coming back from significant injuries or ELCs that could sign bonus laden contracts.
Guess old folks are in there too.
Pretty good way to move cap dollars to next season

To artificially deflate an artificially set cap to increase profits to the owners.
