Mallet is worth an early second round pick???

I hate to get all Sicknessy on everyone but if this is true then Kap must be worth at least the Texans' entire draft and maybe also some early picks from next year. Gotta pull that trigger.

He may not have any game experience in big games, but from what I've seen he is easily worth a 2nd round pick. I'd rather have him in the 2nd then Bridgewater in the first. Plus, he has some NFL experience. I was a big fan of his coming out of college, so I'm a bit biased. However, I do think that would be a great move for the Texans. Especially since O'Brien knows who he's getting and Mallet knows his system.

If the Texans offered their first round and most or all of their draft picks for Kaep I'd take that trade faster than a blink of an eye.

John McClain:
I told you last week Texans wouldn't be signing Matt Cassel. And they won't be trading for Ryan Mallett, either.

I think we should pursue him as well:

Mike Mitchell - DB - Panthers

The Charlotte Observer reports the Redskins and Eagles are showing the "most interest" in free agent FS Mike Mitchell.

The Bears, Broncos, and Falcons are a notch below the two NFC East clubs. With Jairus Byrd and T.J. Ward expected to land lucrative deals as the top two free agent safeties, Mitchell might be viewed as more of a bargain. He should have no trouble landing a multi-year deal at $4-5 million annually.

I was a big fan of his coming out of college, but you're right. Way over paid. Not sure if they can get Michael Johnson too. Griffen will be playing an entirely new position in Zimmer's scheme, right?

I think that is going to happen to a lot of players, the cap raise is burning a hole in teams pockets and agents are going to town!

:hammer:

This means he wouldn't affect the comp' pick formula. Come back west young man! :D

I remember him on NFL Network a couple of months ago saying he would like to play for the 49ers but I don't know if we have that type of money to sign him.

:yahoo: Get him Jets!

Jets & Niners should trade DBs. :D

I didn't actually know Antonio Cromartie was playing with a hip injury last year, so that should push his price down. And that'll probably scare any other team out of signing him to a multi-year contract, which is perfect IMO because I would only want the Niners to sign him to a 1 or 2 year deal. Preferably 2. Plus, as I mentioned already, he won't hurt the comp' pick formula. It's a perfect fit! I say sign him & either go for 1 more DB or just go to the draft for the rest. :hope:

Cromartie would make us cringe when it comes to his tackling ability.
