I suppose there is some injury clauses in there?

I have no problem paying Frank $6-7M/year with injury and performance clauses in there.

I would've preferred they wait to see how he performs this season, but I know that's not how these things work. I wouldn't have been hurt if this were his final season in SF.

I'm with you imac. I am afraid we over paid him way too much for someone that is aging and more injury prone than just about anybody.

As a fan I'm personally very happy they extended him.

The devil's probably in the details on this one. Even if it's a big contact I won't freak out right away.

I couldn't help think that seeing him sitting on the sideline Sunday was a great negotiation tool.

49ers have not announced any Frank Gore contract extension because he has not signed a contract extension, according to a team spokesman.

We'll see.

Team sources said they have NOT extended Gore as of yet.

To those who are cautious about details if/when the extension happens, what would be a figure you would be comfortable with, and what is the top range of what you would pay him?

In a previous thread figures were coming out like 3 years ball park $15-$18 mil. I think that's reasonable.

I'd be willing to go 3/21 with a really good injury clause at the very top end. More than that is really pushing it.

What I really don't want to see is a contract past three years. I'd hate to see them do a back-loaded five year contract with a player like Gore. Just give him a 2-3 year contract and avoid the games.

agree, if there's a little injury protection, then thats fair.

the DeAngelo contract is a little high, but not so high its a "no way Jose". can't see how the 49ers will argue Gore doesn't deserve a contract same with DeAngelo?

I do not follow football contracts as much as I do baseball, but I would be concerned with a contract that protects the team in the event of an injury. Doesn't that give the player an incentive to dog it?
