Its crazy but i went to highschool with the 2 “faces” of policing in my local community. The guys you always see in the media when there is story to report.

The burnaby rcmp guy was in a grade younger than me and came from a salt of the earth family and his dad was a pillar in the local kids sports community.

the vancouver pd guy was a grade older and i can remember him beating grade 8’s with a plastic jumbo baseball bat every day in the hallways

People seem to think that all who serve in the military or in the police department are great human beings. Just because they are noble things does not make all involved noble. Same percentage of assholes in the military or police force as there are in any group.

You might be right. Off the top of my head I can think of 5 people I knew who became or tried to become police officers.

2 were really good guys.
1 was an asshole racist brother of one of my good friends growing up. He became an office then years later was caught transporting drugs for dealers. He did about 10 years.
1 was a friend of a friend who was always looking for trouble. As an officer he shot and killed a kid who he thought was pulling out a gun - but it was a lighter. It was ruled accidental, and I think it was, but if you are always looking for trouble, sometimes you see it where there is none
1 was a friend's brother right out of the marines who said he wanted to be a cop to shoot people. Thankfully he couldn't pass the entrance exam
