Can the nhl actually consider playing in closed arenas ? It’s still a largely gate driven league/sport. The nba can do it but I doubt the nhl can.

Agreed, it would be much more difficult for the NHL than the NBA, but as you know, players being paid ends 2 weeks after the regular season ends, the playoffs are the gravy train for the owners (I think each home playoff date generates at least 2 shmill in revenue).

Right, not sure how much more there would be generated in concessions, parking etc., but it would be a pretty significant number.

Oh, the owners are going to take it up the wazoo...Another option would be to cancel the playoffs, at least there's no operating expenses if no games are played.

that’s why the German league shitcanned their season ... no more gate revenue, low tv rights revenue, still a couple weeks of player payments to make. They figured at least 3 teams would fold if they closed doors and kept playing
