Dudes gotta do what a dudes gotta do to grow that MLB pension.
Or try to keep people from asking, "Hey, aren't you that pitcher that everyone expected to be better than Mike Trout?"
"Nah bro, I'm an outfielder"
"Oh my bad. Carry on"

Wow. I really thought he would turn into something.
The Cubs gave him all of 27.1 IP in the past 3 years so its not like he got much of a chance. However, he wasn't dominant in AAA. At this point, he may be lucky to make it as a reliever in the big leagues. I cannot believe he is already 28 years old.

The Pirates will give him a shot, probably.

So we still lost on that deal, right?
Fair question.

He actually hit pretty well for us in his short time here. I still have “hope” that both/either Canario and Killian can do something. But neither look like stars either way.

I would say we probably won, but it didn’t move any needles for either franchise.

As is often the case, though, the Rockies stuck their nose into a transaction the had no business being involved in and ended up being the real loser of everyone involved.

I guess every division needs a perennial bottom feeder.

Bryant played 51 games for the Giants and hit 7 HRs and posted 1.0 WAR.

In 3+ seasons, he has played in 171 games for the Rox and hit 17 HRs and posted a -1.6 WAR.

The Rox are gonna Rox.

I could possibly see both sides losing this deal but that will take one of Canario and Kilian to at least be average players for a couple of seasons. Right now, it does seem like a win for the Giants, but what did the Cubs really lose? Bryant wouldn't have made a difference in their chance for a postseason appearance that year. Maybe they could have given him a QO at the end of the season and gotten a draft pick that turned out better for them then the guys they got in the trade?

I consider it a draw, as he did well for us in the playoffs but that was about it. So someone in the front office has to be given some credit for not resigning him, right?

Most here were OK with him walking. Especially when we saw the contract he got from Colorado. No way should that have been matched/beaten.
