Some reports that CBC's agreement with Rogers is only for the first 4 years of this deal. Speculation that after the 4th year Rogers may push CBC out. If true. basically those 4 years will be essentially a transition period while Rogers takes over HNIC.

More I think about it, more I'm starting to like the US TV deals with the NHL - NHL has NBCSN, NBC and NHL Network - I hope Rogers doesn't push out CBC

and the setup in the US is different than what they have done with Rogers how?

its pretty much exactly the same ... its virtual exclusivity

NFL has a multi network distribution ... theyre doin ok ... why on earth the NHL would want to go all in with one network (NBC in the states, rogers in canada) and leave all other networks out in the cold is beyond me

In Europe, the rights to highlights are monetized. If Sportsnet wanted to really knife TSN, they'd prevent TSN from showing them.

And then right after that, this place will get billed every time we use a player's name without consent.



I am already planning for this by almost universally refusing to use players' real names.
