We will have to win out.

1. Do not let the LBs rush too much. We need them to plug holes and stop the run. The DLine is actually doing a surprising job at pressuring on their own. Keep the LBs back. Rely on Duane Akina. He's the best coach at that position in the country. So, if the the DLine is not getting after the QB, keep the LBs back and just trust that Akina has the DBs on task.

2. Let Case be great. He's not the most accurate passer, but Applewhite needs to keep letting him be great. Keep throwing those bombs. We're going to have to chance to be great to get by Baylor as well as Okie St and TTech. So, let him keep trying and succeeding. Don't pull a Greg Davis and try to "play down" like we did in the 2nd quarter of the 2009 BCSNCG. Let the guy be great. We need that.

NOTE: besides this last game, we usually win the Special Teams battle. I don't see us putting up another stinker in that department.

We actually don't need to win out. If we beat okie state - then the Texas Tech game is irrelevant. We could lose to Tech and still be playing Baylor for the conference championship.

I think he meant stick with the CASE "bombs away" game plan that has worked well.

Texas has won by POWERRUN,POWERRUN, POWERRUN, 40 yard downfield play action.
It has been a very solid and effective script for them.

Any medium or sideways passes have been a waste of time.
Case is too inaccurate for tempo passes.
Most runs to the outside have been too slow to develop as well.

Texas has an identity now.
RUN, RUN, RUN, deep pass, RUN, RUN, RUN, deep pass

But inexplicably in the Iowa State game and the 1st half of WVU, the coaches went 180 degrees in the other direction.

If the coaches are afraid to let Case let it fly downfield, the Horns will lose.
There is no way Texas can win if Case is stuck with West Coast Dink and Dunk passes.

Even in the (5-7) year of 2010, Texas thumped them at their place.
Texas has the Red Raiders number.
That is the only team that has lost to Texas by 10+ points for the last 4 seasons.

Oklahoma State is good, but they are not some unbeatable team.
Texas beat them last season at their place.
The game is at Texas.

Baylor might be a lost cause. They simply don't get challenged at home.
They suck on the road, but they are virtually invincible at home.

Mack almost always wins bowl games.


I see Texas winning 3 more games (if they can beat OSU).

But BAYLOR is a juggernaut at home.

I think they have eclipsed the Sooners as the best home field team lately.

I don't see any way Texas wins in Waco.

I don't think Alabama could win on that field .

Duke Thomas is not as bad as you think he is. And if his backups were better, Akina would have them playing. He got beat on a inside slant and had no safety help. That's a scheme issue since he was covering a guy much faster than him - and he's not slow.

I think the PASS DEFENSE is fine.

It has an identity now.

Texas has a fierce pass rush, but if the other team picks it up, they will get burnt sometimes.

It doesn't matter if its Duke Thomas or whomever.

I can live with that....as the pass defense also is forcing a ton of turnovers and sacks as well.

The fumbles, sacks, and interceptions are balancing out the occasional big pass play.

The RUN defense is the thing that will ultimately decide the fate of Texas.

Was a terrible call. 0 coverage (no safety). Man to man, but played the CB 10 yds off the WR. He had 0 help and was set up to get destroyed on a slant or crossing pattern.
