For the first time, I can't get hyped up about the upcoming FF season

Been in the same 14 team money league for over 10yrs with local friends and their friends, but not finding any excitement for the upcoming season.

I can be replaced rather quickly but fear that if I do drop out..... then come Sept. Oct. I'll find myself missing it and pissed off that I did. It's not that I've had a string of bad seasons (won the SB last year and 2005) just don't know why I feel "meh" about it.

Anyone else gone through this?

Nope - exact opposite actually. I'm ready for drafts (more importantly, draft parties) and games to start.

Baseball is pretty boring though, I haven't even been to a Cards game in over a week, which is pretty rare since my company, parents, and in-laws all have season tickets and offer them regularly.

The trouble is you don't know why you're not excited.

FF is inherently pointless, and several steps removed from anything meaningful (you're making a fake "team" of guys you have absolutely no control over, and you score points by how they do in a game that also has no meaningful purpose). It's really an exercise in competitive analysis.

I usually get tired of it about mid-season, when you should be scrambling for waiver-wire gems like Bobby Rainey and Harry Douglas. Last year I got more tired of it than usual. Pre-season is interesting again, but I'm pretty much limiting my participation to commentary, so that in Week X I can bug out with a clear conscience.

Hey, it's not the Cardinals fault that they play a boring sport.
wait a second....maybe it is their fault!

Baseball in general needs an overhaul, imo. Their fans are getting older and dying, and I'm not sure this next generation cares much about the sport.

It's too long of games with too many games in the season during the summer months; give me football on the weekends any day

That's sad. . Sorry you feel that way. When I stated I played for 3 years, then the group disbanded and I didn't pay one season. I could barely stand to watch a single game, it just wasn't the same.

I'm sure everyone is different, but I'd suggest stocking to it, especially if it'll be hard to get back in later.

I've been playing for 19 years now and fantasy football has ruined football for me, I don't even watch anymore caring about the Vikings winning i'm more interested in how my players are doing. One of these years i'm going to just quit cold turkey.

I love baseball and it will always be my favorite sport, the younger generations aren't as into baseball because they have the attention span of a knat! Everything has to be now! Funny you didn't hear people crying about how long games were 30 years ago.

Two things...

1st. I do not understand the thread title. Is there a translation button anywhere? What are those words?

2nd. Really? I can watch multiple baseball games per day with no trouble. Boring? I don't get it.

I think baseball took a backseat when I started coaching my kids; we start practice in May and play nearly every day through the month of June. After July 4th I'm exhausted with baseball between 3 teams and ready for football to start.

How many commercial breaks and pitching changes occurred 30 years ago?
Maybe LaRussa ruined the sport for me, but I don't care what the statistics say, if you have a guy in your BP that can only get 1 out, 30 yrs ago that guy would be back home flipping burgers, and not be considered a 'specialist'.

Also, people didn't have nearly as many options of what to do/which sport to watch back then as they do now. Baseball played themselves out of the next generation, don't blame short attention spans on that. Soccer is as popular as it has ever been. They don't take commercial breaks and 'plays' can sometimes take 15-20 minutes just to develop an attempt to score. Baseball players only have to have the attention of a mosquito - they spend more time adjusting themselves and looking into the crowd than they actually do 'staying focused' on the game at hand (pitchers/catchers exempt, obviously)

Maybe it's a you problem and not a me problem. Everyone else besides you understands it just fine.

I don't know why, but I think I am in your league... You just sound like someone who is in my league...

TKO's being funny.

Would be kinda like The Lizard King saying he didn't understand the meaning of "acceptable behavior."

Sure. It's not abnormal considering it's a game and our enjoyment of it is always going to be influenced by other things in our lives. If your prioritizing it over your family, job, health, ect, ect then you have bigger issues than the status of your fantasy teams. I dealt with major family issues with my former step children and ultimately a failed marriage in 2006-2007 and then more family issues in my immediate family when my mother passed away suddenly in 2009-2010 and during both of those time frames I found it difficult to keep up my usual level or participation in my FFB not to mention other areas of my life. If you have to step back to deal with real life issues then you should do so and not feel bad about it and anyone who gives you crap about it isn't worth your time.

Good Luck whichever way you go.

Doors, is it the guys you're in the league with? If so, I can relate a little. We've been doing a league together for over a dozen years, and they don't seem to get as excited about it as I do. Don't get me wrong, they're excellent fantasy owners. But their lackadaisical approach dulls my enthusiasm at times.
