The Jets won their SB last week and are now getting killed by the Bengals.

I dont understand this. The Bengals are a better team than the Patriots.

Why is it that every team playing the Patriots is playing their Superbowl according to you Briz? Could it maybe be the Patriots are just struggling some here at the beginning of the year as they break in some new guys so some games are a little closer than maybe they should be?

The Patriots are perennially the Jets and Bills' super bowls - they measure themselves against us, since they have little-to-no chance of actually playing in the Super Bowl. A lot of the other stuff is just briz being briz, though.

And the Bengals are possibly the best team in the AFC, though KC might have something to say about that. Weird but true: both Cinci and KC are better than the Patriots this year.

Obviously teams care a little more about divisional games but I wouldn't go as far as to call them "Their Superbowl." Because they are rivals and see each other twice a year yes there is more that is on the line with those teams.

Now as to say the Chiefs and Cincy are the best teams in the AFC not sure I would go that far. Cincy is about as inconsistent as it gets in this league. They have a lot of talent but just can't seem to run away with a division that they should at this point. KC is a very disciplined team that has a great defense but this 2nd half of the season will be what shows what kind of team they are. They play 5 of their remaining 8 games against teams with winning records where in the first half of the season they played 0 teams above .500. They have played 3 of their last 4 games against back up quarterbacks and will once again this next Sunday so again we shall see who the real Chiefs are. Now that is not to take away the fact that they are 8-0 though as it doesn't matter who you play that is a great accomplishment. The question arises though of whether all those wins will mean much come playoff time against playoff caliber teams.

There's more than the usual divisional rival thing here with the Jets/Bills. The Patriots have only failed to win the division twice since Brady took over - both times, the division went to the Dolphins. The first questions a new Jets or Bills head coach are asked are about how they're going to beat the Patriots. They build their teams for that goal. When they beat the Patriots, it's a big deal in their towns. I don't think it's at all unfair to say that the Patriots are perennially the biggest games of the year for those two teams.

As for KC, yes, it's fair to question their schedule. On the other hand, it's also fair to question New England and Denver's schedules. New England's schedule is terrible with a few exceptions, while Denver's schedule has looked good on paper but their signature wins over NYG and BAL turn out to be ho-hum because, despite expectations, those two teams are terrible, not even anywhere close to mediocre.

The class of the AFC West will be decided when Denver and KC face off twice in three weeks, that's for sure. The class of the AFC North is clearly Cinci, while New England is clearly tops in the east. The Colts will probably win the South, but look like the weakest projected division winner.

Teams with a reputation of being good probably get the best out of their opponents. There are several other teams in the league that have that reputation as well. Some of them have won titles in the past 8 seasons which is something the Patriots have not done.

Some of the reason for the Jets playing the Patriots tight have to do with Ryan knowing how to shut down noodle armed, dink and dunk Brady.
