suspensions and fines should be earmarked for professional leagues

why not just give the ref the authority to call the game if it's getting out of hand?

That is fucking retarded man. Are they just supposed to take a knee every play when they get up 28 points?

I mean seriously, these fools have not figured out there are winners and losers. Children need to learn how to LOSE as well as how to win. You can't win them all, and sometimes you're going to get your assed kicked. And if you're getting your teeth kicked in every game, maybe football isn't for you. This "lets all be winners and feel good about ourselves" BS has to stop somewhere. I pity kids in those non-competitive leagues as well.

How long before it's mandatory that the other team scores? Don't want the kids feeling bad because they couldn't score.

That is a loadof shit. Like the op said if they want to prevent blowouts just stop the game at a preset point.
This is more of the "every kids a winner, give em all a medal" bs. we re teaching our childeren that no matter what the world will wait for them, and that is just wrong.

“It’s not hurting the kids, it's teaching them compassion for the other team,” said Robert Rochin, the deputy commissioner for the league.

This is just one "youth" football assn. that is doing this. They have the right to do so, just as the kids have a right to move to another organization, or their parents can start a new one.

In the Canes v Savannah St. game both teams agreed to shorten the 4th Q to 12 minutes.

I like this idea, but have it go to 35 or 42 points. 4 scores is too easy to come back.

If I was coaching we wouldn't take knees, we would score a touchdown for the other team if we were far enough ahead to not worry about it. I also wouldn't have a problem getting ahead by more than 35 because I know we can always give up points.

I'd probably get fined, but whatever. Scoring for the other team, or laying down on the ground while on defense "shows compassion", right?

I can understand if you want to initiate a running clock and both coaches agree to it but after that you can't just end the game. This isn't baseball for crying out loud.

A better idea yet is call the game at 35 points and use the remaining game time to scrimmage. Obviously the losing team could use the practice time if injuries arent a factor

One year in rec ball, we would get beat routinelly by 50 points, never worried about a mercy rule

Then winning the league the next two years made it even better.
