Then why hasn’t one got drafted in the top 14 in 45 years? 540 opportunities to get picked yet it’s never happened. It’s the least athletic, easiest to find, lowest skill position in the league. Oh wait. Snapping a ball is really really fucking hard.
Remember when ur argument was first round? Then top 15? Now it’s top14.

Derrrr “I was close” “cut me a break”
“Seriously we’re arguing over being close”

Dude I don’t care about the deals I’m not arguing about it I could care less

Oooooh. When I have proof you’re wrong now you don’t care but earlier today I was an idiot and wrong.

Hahahahahajanaha

Manster posts I’m an idiot for saying 4 year contracts and you give him a thumbs up but now you don’t care.
Now I know we haven’t agreed on Centers but was I right about rookie 1st round pick deals or is the agent wrong too?

Article written by an agent who does contracts. But an agent who actually writes contracts don’t know as much as you three

“Rookie first round picks sign 4 year deals”

Your own link says first round picks are DIFFERENT than other rounds. Your own link says “With first-round picks, teams have an option for a fifth year that must be exercised after the third year of the deal”.

That’s a 5 year deal!!

I don’t know if the language is in there but they do have the OPTION. And OPTION is not a contract.
Player signs his 4 year contract. Team says or does NOTHING. For year contract is up and he’s an UFA... no 5 year contract.
What people aren’t getting is that the rights are not a contract. It’s a league wide deal.
Maybe this will help you.

If it's in the CBA it's in their contract.

What people aren’t getting is that the rights are not a contract.

I have not seen one person on this entire thread state that rights are a contract.

They mean a player can not sign a contract with a team if another team owns their rights.

Nobody but you has brought rights into this discussion. The discussion is about options/extensions, which are part of the original contract. And when options are exercised, they extend the length of the original contract. So if you think this is wrong, then prove it is wrong. With a link to a credible website.

Then why does the contractual rules say VERBATIM: All rookie first round picks are mandated to sign a 4 year contract? It’s 100% a four year contract but the team has their rights for UP TO 5 years. Rights aren’t a contract. So you are the one who is dead wrong. You don’t understand that “rights” aren’t a contract

I don't think PE understands contracts and CBAs. Scary thing is if he really was a teacher, he more than likely signed a contract and was under a CBA.

Idk there was an entire part of the article talking about a 5th year, which didnt make a lot of sense to me because rookies only sign 4 year contracts, why are they talking about a 5yh year

I know he won’t read it and if he does he’ll ignore the salient points but here’s a good article that discusses when players on their rookie deals attempt holding out for more money. I found this passage particularly insightful...

A first round pick is generally considered inexpensive in year four and five of their rookie deal compared to what they’ll command on the open market.

The Art of the Rookie Extension Deal - Inside The Pylon

I guess this writer is wrong along with the rest of us.

BTW... THAT is a “verbatim” quote. What that fucking liar does is he either cuts off a quote or takes it out of context by ignoring/failing to quote other language that pertains to the part that HE calls “a verbatim quote”.

From that same article:

A player is eligible for an extension after the third year of their rookie contract is complete. ... Why would a franchise extend a player with two years remaining on their deal?

Wait a minute... if PE1 is correct and first round picks only sign a four year deal and they can only be eligible for an extension after year 3 how can a player have “two years remaining on their deal!”

WTF is this writer talking about PE1?

You’re an uneducated dumbass who has wasted his life and you’re a fucking liar.
