Wait huhh? What? “I didn’t address him” but agreed with the same thing repeated that he didn’t understand”. WTF does that mean.
You agreed with Schmoopy then with me.

@ducky can you handle this one please?

He’s not agreeing with you. He’s taking exception with me saying the give them a new one year contract. That was wrong how I explained it cause it’s not officially a brand new deal even though it’s a one year extension and much higher monies. But he is not saying rookies sign 5 year deals... because they don’t.

I completely understand everything. He said they sign 5 year deals and I said they sign 4 year deals and the team can excercise a 5th year option or not. I was right. I understand everything.

My story has been straight and I understand everything single thing he said. He said they sign 5 year deals. So I post two links saying “Wentz and Elliot” signed their 4 year rookie deals”. But somehow I’m still wrong in your eyes.

if it isnt a "new" deal (needing a signature) then it is part of the old deal. making it a 5 year deal.

It’s not a 5 year deal they sign and I gave you 2 links. It’s a four year deal. At the end of the 4 years when the deal is up the team can decide to add one year and a large pay increase or not. That’s not them signing a 5 year deal.

Tell me what this link says about Elliot’s contract?
Cowboys sign Ezekiel Elliott to $24.9 million contract
It says, “Elliot signs a 4 year deal”

it is part of the original contract. This shouldnt & cant be denied.

Thus the team has control of the 1st rd. rookie for 5 years. (if they choose)
only 4 years years of income is known at that moment.
The team controls the player for 5 years. This would be known as a 5 year contract. (for 1st rounders)

You link is talking of what is known in the moment. far as #'s on their guaranteed contract. 5th year isnt guaranteed unless exercised. But it is in the original contract. So for that player it is a 5 yr deal. (no new signatures needed)

It’s not a 5 year deal. A player who doesn’t have his deal extended is a FA and can sign somewhere else cause he an UFA. He wasn’t cut. The link is telling you what he signed for “A four year contract”. All the player gets is a 4 year deal. The team can exercise a clause in every 1st round pick to add on another year or not. That is not a 5 year contract. It’s a 4 year contract with a clause saying the team may or may not keep him for one more year.

Yeah. it is called being let go. If released from a team you were cut.
Which can happen in any year of a contract in football.
If the player has no say for 5 years. it is a 5 year contract.
If it was a 4 year deal like you would like to imply.
The Player would have a choice after 4 years.
but he doesnt.
he has no say until after the 5th year

Come on everybody say it with me. Which means...........

So the player not extended can be resigned by the same team while not using his 5th year option or he can leave. That’s not being let go or cut. Happens all the time. It’s called a 4 year deal with a team option. Sorry you’re wrong. That’s why all the articles I posted said the rookies signed a 4 year deal.
The rookies don’t sign for 5 year.
The rookies sign for 4 years and the team has the option to extend the deal for one year or not.

If you go to work and your boss says, “We are going to give you $100,000 for 4 years. We can extend it for one more year if we want or we can not” Do you go home and tell your family you just signed a 5 year deal?
No you don’t. You signed a 4 year deal and you don’t know if you’ll get another year or not. You didn’t just sign a 5 year deal. END OF STORY!

I guess I will take this advice :bored2:
told yah man after months of discussion with him. It actually makes your head hurt. He cant figure out that its him. NO ONE , NO ONE has this much trouble with other posters. NO ONE has this much trouble proving points. NO ONE has this much trouble keeping their story straight. NO ONE ignores more evidence posted against him. I wish it was trolling.

You should cause you’re wrong. See us 3 can agree on something. Save your breath.

But seriously... If your boss says “I’m going to give you $100 grand a year for the next 4 years. After that I’ll let you know if I want to give you one more year”
Do you go home and tell your family you signed a 5 year deal?

If the contract says I can only work for that boss for 5 years. Yes. that would be a 5 year deal. Only way to not work for said boss would be to get out of the contract.

It didn’t say that you can work for that boss for 5 year. He said he will let you know after your 4 year contract is up. You aren’t guaranteed the 5th year so you don’t have a 5 year deal. The NFL rookie deals don’t say you can only work for that boss/team for 5 years. If your boss don’t give you another year it wasn’t a 5 year contract.
