Yep... but that didn’t include the 2 million payback.

Foles turning down the option saved the team 18.6M in cap money the equaling the exact amount the Eagles would have saved had they not picked up the option.
I've searched for any reports where the Eagles gained any extra cap space by picking up the option, there is NO reports stating so. I can find reports from before the option played out that if the Eagles decline the option they'd save 18.6M and I can find reports that by Foles declining the option the Eagles saved 18.6M.

Again, the Eagles fucked Foles out of 2M and they gain nothing for it going forward.

the 4 years is guaranteed.
the 5th year is a team option.
so if the team wants the option. it is a 5 year deal.
All 1st round players know they sign their rights away for 5 years if the team chooses.
If it helps you understand. Look at it this way.
A team can opt out of the 5th year if the player isnt good enough.
When a rookie signs the contract he has 4 years guaranteed. The team still owns his right for 5 years.

For the player it is a 5 year contract he cant do anything about. (well I guess they can suck)

Well I guess then you should call it a 7 year deal cause they can be franchised for 2 more years. As you can see in both links it said they signed 4 year deals.

They gained an extra 2 million on top of the 18.6 million they desperately need. The Eagles didn’t fuck Foles. Foles agent asked for the 2 million buy out. Foles exercised that. They didn’t fuck Foles anymore then Dallas fucked DLaw.

Again. Try to spin it however you like.
The player would have to sign the Fran tag making it a new contract.
the 5 year deal has already been written & signed.

Thus it is a 5 year deal for the player.

Dude then why do both articles say “Wentz signed a 4 year deal” and “Ezekiel Elliot signed a 4 year deal”. It’s not a 5 year deal. It’s a 4 year deal. You are the one spinning.

So you’re agreeing with him when he’s 100% wrong. Players sign 4 year deals. I even post proof and you still try to act like I’m wrong even though I post proof.

their guaranteed money is 4 years. the team owns their rights for 5. Since they are talking #'s that is what the player will be making for sure. (4 years)

A simple concept for most.

Yes, that’s all true. It is a simple concept. They get a 4 year contract and the team has the right to add on a new contract for one year. They don’t get 5 year contracts like you said. They all get 4 year contracts like the article says. The team can give them a new one year deal or skip it if they want to.

nope. for there to be a new contract. the player would have to sign it. The 5th year option is for the team. the player doesnt sign shit. He just goes back to work. On the same contract. Which is still considered his rookie contract.

The 2 million absolutely gives them salary cap relief.

No he doesn’t. He gets a brand new deal and a lot more money then the years before. Their pay jump tremendously on the new one year extension.
