Tell me what was idiotic about my point because it was too easy to show the stupidity of Mansters argument. And you ain’t done with me. You’ll post my name to 50 topics before Sunday night and start a few threads about how the Eagles are awful or how Wentz isn’t good. No way you ignore me... but you should on this topic cause I’m schooling you.

You are getting you ass kicked like always, moocher fucker

Foles has got to be the first, right? I mean if it happens. But PE1 doesn’t see anything wrong with it.

He’s a clueless moron more determined to argue ridiculous topics because he’s in troll mode and gets defensive when kicked around like a Guatemalan hooker

Foles and the eagles are on good terms. You guys are ridiculous.
this is what gets me. And i'll say this to you, because you are rational.

The eagles come out MULTIPLE times and say they are going to do right by Foles. They come out and publicly applaud themselves for giving him a 1 mill bonus that he was "close" too, and they didnt have to give him. They then hit him with the 2 mill thing. You knew he was gonna buyout, you knew he wanted to go try and be a starter, you said you were gonna do right by him, yet you make him pay 2 mill. You knew thats exactly how it was gonna go down, why make him do that if your gonna do right by him. Now were possibly trying to restrict other things.

I dont have a problem with any of the moves from the football operations and business side of things, 100% appropriate. I have an issue with the eagles coming out publicly , acting all high and might about doing right by foles, then doing little dick moves.

At the end of the day it is still a business and there are salary cap issues ahead. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they can give that bonus as a 2018 season cap hit and the 2 million in savings goes towards the 2019 season where they have tough decisions to make to get to the cap.

Him buying out the contract has no difference than bnb if the Eagles declined the offer.

Talking to my Jets fan friends, they are so relieved to finally not be involved in discussions for one of these guys.

For all potential Foles buyers.

You need to remember Scott Mitchell.

actually the only dick move I would see is if they attempt to Fran tag him.
they actually had to take the option. That relieves them of 2 mil on their cap which is in bad shape. Also if they dont take the option, that would pretty much be the same as cutting Foles. Which I believe would mean they wouldnt get a comp pick. I really dont have any problems with them accepting the option & having Foles decline it.

Since you can roll any savings forward into the next cap year I'm no sure it matters which year it hits in, unless they are so tight against the cap that $1M would put them over.

One has to wonder if the treatment of Foles here will make others think twice about signing option deals NFL wide, especially with Philly or those you have to pay to get out?

AFAIK most players do not even get a sniff at a mutual option deal, and - arguably - would wish they actually had one (since that is the one that allows you to get out from under team control without forcing the team to cut you).

IIRC if a player retires early, he must repay part of his SB as well. And the $ 2 million was part of Foles' signing bonus. O yeah, and the $ 1 million bonus that Foles legally did not even earn (but was gifted to him anyway) and other bonuses more than made up for that.

The biggest question to me now that Foles opted out is will Sudfeld be ready to play by December :rolleyes2:

At least a somewhat decent troll here...

What would have been the better move? Outright cut him? Because that might have been the only way to 'do more right by him'.

And from the moment Foles signed this deal, EVERYBODY, knew that the Eagles picking up the option and having to repay part of the SB would be the most likely scenario if Foles played a significant part of the season (as everybody expected him to at the time - as most figured Wentz to be out for the first half of the season).

And again - how many players in the NFL actually do have a mutual option contract like Foles had?

It seems you disagree or are not convinced.

I am looking for realistic alternatives 'doing right by Foles' - to what is happening now, and I cannot see them.

BTW, the deal Foles signed in april, with the mutual option clause, gave Foles pretty much 6 or 7 million as a base, and he could earn up to $ 14 million more in bonuses and incentives. I think he made much of that $ 14 million (and it included that $ 1 million that legally the Eagles did not owe him). The Chicago game alone IIRC netted him $ 1 million.

If your GM was truly any good besides manipulating the cap, he would've traded Foldz last season when his stock was the highest. It's called making good business decisions. Instead all it did was fester uncertainty, divide the locker room and an early playoff loss. They could've done that with Sudfeld.
Philly made the bed, now they must lie in it. You better hope Foldz doesn't get and sign a tag.
