Lightning forward breaks in to get to the puck. DMAN #1 with the puck can A)Pass it to the DMAN #2 who then passes it forward or B) DMAN #1 passes it forward. They are trying to take a guy out of the play/Not turn it over. Why would any defender in their right mind attempt to pass it into traffic?

Sorry about the Flyers tiny pink inability to make a decent breakout pass. Or at least have the guts to take the puck up the ice. This shit fest of a game is ultimately the Flyers fault.

I am livid about this. How can the refs dictate this. I can understand having to keep the puck in motion, (which they are doing), but to force them play into Tampa Bay's system?

I don't get it. It's an odd strategy, but they can't blow the play dead the second the puck stops moving.

Just got back. If you're going to force the Flyers to go forward, then force the Lightning to move forward also.

Force the fucking play, dump it in and play the game do not play pass it back and forth.

But why would you throw the puck into 5 man traffic? It's a death trap (no pun intended).

Like I said in my previous post, I am not against the lightening tactic, but you can't fault the flyers one bit here.

Your forwards are just standing there making no attempt to get open. Did you not see the overhead shot? It's not like there's a wall at center ice. Just some lazy Flyers forwards.

I think it rather amusing...of course that comes with two caveats: 1) neither is my team, so I have no vested interested in the outcome (other than maybe a flyers loss) and 2) watching it in one game is one thing, the thought of this being the style du jour in the NHL (not that I think it will actually happen) would make me vomit

No, you have your opinion, nut I think the refs are wrong for forcing the Flyers to play into Tampa's strength. They're talking about how it's Tampa's system, but hey, skating around in their zone with the puck until they see an opening looks like the Flyers system, right? But the refs are penalizing the Flyers system only.

Yes, but once that 5th Tampa player makes the break for it one can move to that open ice where he was, other Tampa players also start to move, and a play can happen. I doubt we see it of course.
