They're talking about how it's Tampa's system, but hey, skating around in their zone with the puck until they see an opening looks like the Flyers system, right? But the refs are penalizing the Flyers system only.

I mean, I hate it too...but it's just strategy. Beat it, and it won't be used as often. And hey, the Flyers are trying to do that. Make them beat you. You can't just make something illegal. Buccigross was making good points on twitter though, the league needs to make it easier to score. Increase the size of the nets (because the goalies take up more space now than they once did, it merely makes sense), things like that.

I don't like the trap, but it's currently a perfectly legal way to play hockey. I don't like sitting in our own zone being boring, but it's currently a perfectly legal way to play hockey. If you don't like them, make a rule against them.

I would prefer that neither is around, but as long as the trap is around, I'm okay with the other.

I know for my hockey team we were punished every time we skated into a trap. Our instructions was that if nothing was there, turn around and look back to the defense and start over.

Granted, the flyers aren't even attempted that. BUT, with tampa having their guys all in the neutral zone so deep waiting, it is just not worth it.
