Caps did this vs Tampa last year at times too (regular season, why they didn't do it in the playoffs confuses me) and while they did it with a lead, I agree with what they are doing. It's a standoff and neither will blink. I like the message the Flyers are sending, but not exactly sure I agree with how they are doing (in the 1st, tie game, ect.)

But why would you throw the puck into 5 man traffic? It's a death trap (no pun intended).

Like I said in my previous post, I am not against the lightening tactic, but you can't fault the flyers one bit here.

The Flyers didn't even attempT to gain the red line! They stayed back in their own zone 30 feet behind their own blue line. Also who ever said the announcers agreed with the Flyers obviously didn't listen to the end of the intermission.

IT"S THE TRAP! The Devils did it for years ! You get the defensive team moving and dump the puck deep and force the forecheck. GOD DAMN IT IM GETTING FRUSTRATED HERE!!

Good coaches get around it. DAMN!!!!!

I got no horse in this (just trying to watch an exciting hockey game since my Sharks aren't playing tonight), but agreed 100% with that.

Yes, Tampa is to blame (like 51% to 49%?) but shit, find a way to dump the puck in, FFS!

Hope Philly scores and the rest of the game Tampa has to play out of "system" which they actually really don't play that well if we are being perfectly honest.

Honestly, TB isn't even a trap type team. Why are they playing that system with that core group?

That's what the Flyers are attempting. By not playing into the trap, they are trying to force the Lightning to not trap.

If you've listened to this broadcast at all, you'd hear that everyone including opposing players and coaches are criticizing tampa bay for this style of play.

That's what I was thinking? Their forwards are fast too, only thing I can think of they are bad back checkers, lol. I have also noticed that St. Louis has been pretty easy to bump off the puck so maybe that has something to do with it to.

Boss,

Yes the devils did do this for years. We also had a terrible record against the devils during those years. The devils were also a very good team during those years.

Why did they win games? One lucky bounce and they get a lead and sit on it.

What you're not seeing is what if we do pass into the trap, fail, and they score? Then they have a lead playing the largest 1-3-1 ever. Why even attempt it when we don't have to?

I think they are just afraid with their depleted defense.

I just think as long as the Flyers keep the puck moving, the refs shouldn't dictate what they do with it. why don't they force Tampa to move after the player with the puck? If they're going to blow the whistle, have the face off at center ice so there's no bias against 1 team.

I see what Boss is saying, it's boring hockey and we have attacked, just on our terms. I wish they would just play also..
