i dont see how it cant be #1.. the pens are making a push for #2 with michalek and martin to go with orpik and letang.. still they definitely lack the depth that we have now

think of it this way. our top 4 last year was better than their top 4 will be next year. most likely. pronger, timmonen, carle, and coburn are better. and now we have 2 more good players.

Flyers have 2 guys who could be #1 on a lot of teams. I don't know the Penguins have even 1. They have a lot of 2-3 guys. I'll still take Chicago's over theirs.

think of it this way, the flyers wanted michalek for their 3rd pairing. although that is mostly due to coburn not being able to anchor his own pairing.

these are good points.. also the flyers have 5 guys that have played on the top pair.. and done it well.. (mesz played on the top pair in ottawa for a while if i remember correctly)

Although I love this signing, it would be nice to have a solid Goalie to go with it. Turco might have been the best choice. I think he would be solid behind a great "D"... Well here's to hoping Leighton wasn't just a fluke!

Yea, I don't see how our "D" isn't #1, I mean who is next? Certainly not the Pen's by any means! I don't know how they even got mentioned as a top 3? Unless it's only eastern conference we're refering to? JMO though.

Call me crazy, but he looks a lot like John LeClair, at least physically. I took that a step further and looked up their wikipedia pages. Sure enough, LeClair is 40 and listed at 6'3" 235 lbs. O'Donnell is 38 and listed at 6'3" 234 lbs. They obviously look very similar in the face too. I was a huge fan of Johnny Vermont, I should know.

This is pretty solid. He is a + player for 9 years in a row. Still played about 19 minutes a night. With 6 solid players, the in season minutes will go down. Now, if we had only signed Ellis.
