Yeah....that's my feeling too.

Unless I was completely rebuilding from scratch....I'd always trade my 1st for someone that's already young and proven.

Totally agree Tox by the time the young guy gets good your cup shot could be over...although Steeg is not old by any means and proven. I love it and it puts pressure on the rest of the lineup to produce.

I remember seeing some interviews from the habs 70's glory days and most of the players felt that if they played bad they'd be sitting the next game even in practice! Guess what happened...multiple cups! One can hope right?

Under. I don't feel that he's the kind of instant impact player to get two points right away, and neither he nor we have been very good against Tampa this year.

However, I don't care if he gets zero points tonight, as long as he's a plus player. I haven't watched him too much, so all I can go on is his stats, and he's a -13 this year. Granted, he's played for the Leafs, so he might realistically be much better than that. If he's defensively sound with the ability to put up 50-60 points like he has been in Chicago, I can live with that. He SHOULD be able to fit into our system, so my first reaction might have been over the top a bit. We'll see.

I can't see why he wouldn't. He's the stereotypical forward for Lavi's system, and he's responsible on defense.

ha i wanted under too but i let tox have it. i think he will be fine from a +/- standpoint. he was a +15 in 07-08 and +9 last year so I think that number was a product of the terrible leafs.

I'm just hyper-conservative when it comes to draft picks. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's a weak draft and odds are decent we have a better player in Versteeg than the players those picks would have gotten us combined, but I look at those picks and wonder if we didn't just unwittingly pass up the next Datsyuk for Versteeg.

There's a reason I've never let myself go to the casino...

Detroit got lucky and picked him in like the 5th or 6th round. Every team in the league had multiple chances to pick him before Detroit finally snatched him up.
