Not sure how I feel about this. I love Streit but I know he's going to want like 3-4 years at 5mil + and for his age that is risky...

If they can get him for like 2 years around 4-5 mil, I could live with that.

Seems to be a typical Flyers stopgap move.. but I'm ok with a stopgap IF they have a longterm plan in mind to stabalize the D.

i like that they're looking at stop gap options.. i want them to be patient.. but streit's contract demands are asinine for a guy on a 35+ contract.. if he wants 4 years, i go no higher than 2.75.. 2 years, i'd be willing to go 5-5.5

Streit turned down a 3 year 15M deal from the Isles. He wants a 3 or 4 year deal averaging 5.5M per. Guess what he's going to get something close to it on July 1st if Holmgren doesn't sign him. My guess is a deal gets done.

Streit will help the Flyers powerplay. He hasn't been good in his own end the past two years. Thanks for the 4th round pick in 2014 & for wasting a lot of cap space without getting a goalie.:D:

I'd be happy, but this contract will likely be awful

If this guy turned down a 3 yr 15.5 million from the Isles, w
why the fuck is Homer even giving this guy a sniff? This is why we are screwed cap wise. Fuck I'm pissed.

He actually makes plenty of sense as a stop gap. 3 years from now Gus would hopefully have developed to a top 4 dman, Ghost likely would have added weight and be pushing for a roster spot, and this year's (hopefully) PMD draft pick will be ready.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Sorry, meant to say $4M to $5M range that Streit will be looking for. He was making $4.1M per year on his expiring contract.

I still don't get it? He turned down a 3 yr 15 million contract w the Isles. That is $5 million per. So which is it?

there's a chance he turned it down because it's the isles? maybe? hopefully?

though, if i were him i'd think the isles have just as good of a shot at a cup run before he retires as the flyers do..

Not playing for the Isles, I guess? Still doesn't make sense to go from a playoff team to a lottery team, but I'll take Bobby Mac's word

Exactly... He's 35 and this is a big payday he turned down.

I think The Flyers may trade a dman (coburn) For a young forward.

This would not at all surprise me. We could deal for picks, then pick up Richards, it sheds some salary, you can trade him for a young forward.

Thanks for sharing rap. I feel better after reading the interview. He sounds really excited being a Flyer.

Can't really complain that's the going rate these days for vet dmen. He can move the puck and skate exactly what they need. Just keep it to 3 years and I'm cool with it.

This team gives a lot of hope but no glory in the end, and that's the bottom line. Give them credit for trying though.
