Here are his career stats
Mark Streit Stats - Philadelphia Flyers - ESPN

Im not sure if he is a 5 million dollar player
His +/- is brutal the last 2 years

Yeah, but he played for the Islanders. They had 7 guys at or better than even this year. That said, yeah, -14 in 48 is bad, and -27 in 82 isn't much better. If it makes you feel any better if you add in PP points to +/- he'd be a -3 and -4, respectively.

I don't want him for 5 million a year, that's for certain. He's on the downside of his career, so he's not likely to get better, and I've not noticed him when we play the Islanders, which isn't what I want to say about a guy we'd invest nearly 10% of our cap in. If we want one of those, we already have Pronger.

If they're gonna dish out 5 mil for a d-man-go after Pietrangelo or Shattenkirk.

Screw the quick fix, with a 35 yr old guy.

problem is, 5 mil wont get pietrangelo or shattenkirk.. you'd have to offer them 8ish for st louis to MAYBE not match.. or you'd have to trade couturier, read, and multiple first rounders for them, to sign them at 5 mil

flyers sign streit to a 4 year deal, not sure of the cap hit yet. 4 years.. ouch. very much disagree with this move. on the cap until he's 39...
would have been pumped if it was 2-3 years, but this streit move is looking like a mistake. tired of these damn quick fixes with overpaid veterans

Only the Flyers fuck themselves every time. Anyone close to retiring, come to Philly to get one last huge payday. Fuck, will the brass ever learn? Better yet, do they enjoy getting assrammed?

this is just fucking absurd.

don't they learn from past mistakes? and don't they look around the league and see that cup winners are not made by signing overpaid veterans past their prime?

$5.25 AAV. I can live with the money, but the fourth year hurts.

Seriously? $5.25 million for a 35 yr old on the decline. And by the way, if Streit decides to retire before his 4th year, we are still stuck w his cap hit. Nothing good about this!

We just got a cheaper Timonen replacement, and hopefully this signing doesn't mean the end of Couturier.

I wish Chicago could buyout Scotty Bowman and we could bring him here. At least to show Homer and Co. how this business really should work.

This contract is going to be a bridge to our hopefully rebuilt defense 4 years from now with Gustaffson, Ghost, and hopefully our first two selections in this year's draft

I think we will see some moves possibly before the draft

It is what it is they needed some stability back there and hopefully he'll blend in well with the young guys. He also brings leadership being a captain. 3 would have been nice but they won't get him for that. I'm just happy that they didn't have to move any of the young guys to get help back there.
