It's as if we got to the point in the game where we just needed to lock it down for a minute and nobody wanted the damn puck. It's hot potato time. All you have to fucking do is get the red line, dump it in and chase. Then bang bodies and hold the puck up in the corners.

You have to feel bad for Mason. He had a 36 save shutout in his pocket and suddenly it's an OT loss with TWO goals given up.

Three goats:

1) Nicklas Grossmann - His shitty icing caused the goal in regulation and now people are bitching about Claude Giroux when it would have never have happened if not for the icing

2) Mark Streit - His stupid pinch in caused the breakaway for the game winner

3) Craig Berube - For taxing Claude Giroux and playing him too much(not utilizing the fourth line enough) and putting him in a bad spot late then he pretty much benched him in OT(only one shift)

You have to put your best player out there. Giroux has been absolutely horrible. He refuses to shoot the puck. He dangles around and looks for the perfect pass every time he has the puck. His horrible defense play right there at the end of the third led to the Canes tying the game. Not putting G out for the first shift was justified.

I can't justify it, when you have a terrible offense like this, you need him out there in every big situation late - great coaches put their best players back out there to atone for their mistake, he barely ever got a shot to atone for his mistake - and no wonder he has no confidence, when the coaches staples your ass to the bench and doesn't give you another chance, it kills whatever confidence you have left

Giroux had the keys to the kingdom handed to him because of one shift against the Penguins. I'll admit, up until this season, I held the same view point you have on Giroux. He is the best player on the team, but he needs to step up an act like it. G needs to start leading by example. I just dont see it this season. He hasn't been playing well at all nor has he showed that he is capable of leading this team. I think he will turn it around, but it is not looking good right now. We'll revisit this after game #30.

With the lack of effort Gee has showed in the defensive zone this year he should be on the becnch for coots in the last 3 minutes of any 1-0 game. Especially when we are desperate to pick up 2 points against teams like carolina. But then again we should just beat teams like that by 2 or three goals and not have to worry about plant gee on the bench the last few minutes.

A good D and a good O including an explosive one solves alot of problems in any sport. Somehow guys like Giroux, Coburn, Schen, and Timonen are not making the connection and perhaps relying on other factors such as good goaltending, which we have this year, to bail them out. But that comes back to bite you in close games like last night.

The stupid icing by Grossmann should have never been his play to make. G had 150 feet of clear space in front of him but he 'wasted time' which equated to letting Carolina finish a line change and pressure him. For those 5 seconds of time killed the flyers went from having the puck on Giroux 's stick with 150 ft of space to Grossmann having the puck with a guy 3 feet in front of him. That was an awful decision by Giroux just as much as it was a bad pass by Grossmann.
