He's not there yet missing training camp hurts and he can't shoot yet. Explains why he's bad in his own zone too you just can't flick the switch.

1. Read - goal and an assists but easily the hardest working player on the ice tonight.
2. Mason - only goal allowed was off Coburn's shin.
3. Coburn - aside from deflecting one in I thought he played a pretty strong game. Nice goal as well.

Honorable mentions: I love timonen, but I thought streit looked solid on the first pp unit. Thought he had a fairly strong game overall actually. Talbot is a warrior. Grossmann had like 42 blocked shots. Lecavalier had a fantastic first half, didn't notice him much after that though. I thought coots looked solid as well.

Goats:
1. Giroux - looks downright pissed off at how things are going for him. Took a bad penalty or two and shouldve been called on that cross check too. Ease up bud, it will come
2. Pouliot- pay attention man, that could've been bad
3. Simmonds - just an overall dumb game from him. Felt like he held the puck when he shoulda passed and passed when he shouldve held the puck.

Agreed about Mark Streit - even though the PP didn't score(I really thought they were going to get one tonight), he looked really quick and was moving really well - they have to move around on the PP and not be static

Fully agree with you guys everyone played well for the most part very impressed with Coburn, Grossmann and Mason. PP was a little better but I still can't believe that they can be this bad. Overall if they had any luck they score 4-5 so that's promising.

Pouliot is a complete tool that was bad and I'll give Talbot the bad ass man award tonight. Wow for coming back and killing penalties in the end....unless that was Lappy dressed up? :noidea:

They're pressing too hard on the PP, I think - if they settle down they will be fine

Ya sticks are still tight you could see the relief on Reads face when he scored shorthanded. They just need a few to go in and things should go back to normal. I can see that they're letting it rip from the point which is a good move but still aren't having any luck. You'd think something would go in!

I think you have to give Steve Mason the 1st star every game.

Breezed thru game on pvr. Looks like they had a lot of good chances. 2 posts. A few other point blank misses.
The bounces will come and this win hopefully will let them breathe a bit.

See Couturier 4 feet from the net shooting one foot wide? I mean, come on. Loosen that grip a bit, boys. That's Jeff Carter territory there.

ya that was pretty bad. I like the way he has played the last few games though
That line of Simmer, couts and read needs to stay together

That could develop into a great checking line that also chips in some goals. Incredible depth once the other two lines get going.

Giroux and Vin were dynamite
Mason was solid
I think Couturier looked great
Bonus points for scoring more than two goals

Admittedly the 2nd goal Mason let in was a bit weak
I'd like to see us play a more complete, dominant game. There were flashes of it, but tonight was not enough. We are getting there though

Oh yeah, Streit looked good

I feel like even when we gave up a goal, we still had control of this game - I felt good about that because the confidence was there for them tonight - the confidence is key

Stars:

1. Vincent
2. F'ing (also Streit)
3. Lecavalier (also Hartnell, who was surprisingly effective on the forecheck)

Goats:

1. Coburn - can't be skating backward all slow-like when one of the fastest guys in the game is wide of you with a full head of steam.
2. Luke Schenn - not because of anything in particular he did, I just literally don't remember him doing anything in the game, and he was the only -1 on the squad.
3. Rinaldo - Put on a visor BEFORE you get wrecked with the puck. Glad he was okay, but between him and Talbot we are up two versus our oh-shit-that-guy-is-probably-out-forever projections.

Vinny obviously had a super game. That last goal was exactly the kind of dirty, broken play goals we're going to need to get back in the swing of things. I'm kind of loathe to give Giroux a star even though he had two assists, because I didn't feel he played that well - he was alright, but just happened to be on a line with number 40 tonight. He needs a goal or two and he'll be fine, I hope. Mason wasn't bad at all - he stopped everything he should have, and had a few good saves besides. Can't ask for more from your goalie than that.

Vinny of course with a great game but Jake and Harts also played well. Props to the PK too it was very good. Mason very steady again that's all you need.

PP needs to be better but it will come around. Reno needs to stay out of the box. Nothing else I can think of.

1. Raffl - thought he played a great game. Speed, skill, defense, physicality. I liked his game tonight.
2. Simmonds - tremendous work on the boards and a nice pass, but his hands are still killing me.
3. Mason - another real strong game from him imo
Honorable mention - G's pass was really pretty.

I didn't really think anybody played that poorly. Hartnell has gotta bury his chances, streit had a couple aggregious turnovers, but nothing too bad. Talbot has been essentially useless this year, don't want him to get a pass since I still hate his guts as it is haha

My Raffl love is growing. I don't like him on the top line, but he looks like a great depth guy.
Vinny looked solid again with Giroux.
Voracek looked like last season's Voracek.
Steve Mason, man do I feel bad for him.

We still can't play 60 minutes. A team shouldn't just crumble like that in one game. Same story as usual.
I can't even watch Simmonds. Why the hell he lurks at the blueline waiting for a breakaway is beyond me, and why he is out there with a minute left instead of Read beats me.

A few more toughs:

Kimmo isn't earning any kind of extension. I think he has (finally) hit the wall.

Coburn was actually quite solid tonight.

We do an excellent job of clearing the porch.
