gillis also said that they may have a chance to reclaim Volpatti on Waivers. he thinks Wash may put him on waivers this season.

its all weird

if he's on waivers again ... edm will claim him

edmonton may be past us in the standings by then Minny will be for sure.

when you are successful on a waiver claim ... your team moves to the bottom of the priority claim list (regardless of standings)

ie canucks claimed sestito ... they are the last team to have successfully claimed a player off waivers so they now have spot 30 on the priority claim list (last)

at the same time if edmonton claims some no namer they will be dropped to the bottom. which they could very well do. aint going to matter Volpatti will be a regular on the Caps and score 7 goals. and you will go nuts :D

lol theres a lot of "may"'s and "if"'s in your last few posts

fact is the canucks have had a revolving door of 4th liners over the past couple of years and Volpatti showed he could provide/had physicality, leadership and intelligence ... didnt get a proper chance to prove he could become more imo

this whole season for the canucks is now based on Ifs and Mays

So I guess at least four other teams had offer sheets ready for ROR - Maybe that asshat Blake Price should do a little more research before jumping to conclusions about Feaster.

lots of contrary information going around.
for example, the first report was that the Nucks had also presented one, which was denied by Gillis/Gilman.

one interesting thing I did read was that Feaster was ready to challenge the CBA wording that he wouldn't have to clear waivers if he came back to the Avs (new addendum to the CBA protecting the teas rights to a player if he goes overseas) - wording says something like "exempt if player is on a roster', meaning RoR is only safe from waivers if his current team brings him back. Feaster's argument was "well, he is on A roster, just not ours"

would have been an interesting court case for sure.
Hell of a risk by flames even if that was their plan.

latest report is that Flames would have had to pay the $2.5m signing bonus, and THEN put him on waivers.

so they could have lost
- 1st round pick and 3rd round pick
- Ryan O'Reilly
- $2.5 million

and gained absolutely nothing. yikes.

Colorado blew it. There really is a GM out their as dumb as Milbury. I didn't think it was possible. Then again I shouldn't be surprised. Feaster claimed Blake Comeau.:D:

Speculation on the Hot Stove tonight that Bettman would have stepped in if Colorado wouldn't have matched the Flames offer sheet and ruled that Calgary would not have had to put ROR on waivers (aw shucks Ronnie and Elliotte Friedman discussed it). It's a moot point now, but the wording needs to be clear once the CBA is officially finalized.

Seems like the NHL has a hard time coming up with a CBA that these GM's can't find a million loopholes in or the verbiage is so that they can get around issues.

The fact that there were at least four other teams that had offer sheets ready for ROR shows that the verbiage is definitely open to different interpretations. That said, Feaster/Weisbrod failed to do the required due diligence.

There's still no excuse for the Flames not asking the league if O'Reilly would have to go through waivers in the first place. If you aren't sure about a rule it's the GM's job to clairfy that rule. Feaster didn't do his due diligence.
