Was worried there would be no Orange Crush. Between the t-shirts, light show, God Bless America, and any other Snider ceremony this building better melt down tonight.
Agreed and those shirts are the shit. Wow!

It's absolutely insane how quickly we gave back that first goal. Just blew a tremendous start to the game.

It's unreal. Their 5 on 4 looks like a 5 on 3 every single time. And then half of the time our power play looks like even strength...Lol It's a joke.

Whoever we have in charge of our power play and penalty kill (in terms of coaching) needs to put some serious work in. It can't simply be not having a guy or two either.

I loved Lappy as a player, but it's been two seasons with a mediocre, or even bad, PK. He's not getting the job done. You can't just leave Johansen chillin there in front of Mason. Even if he doesn't deflect it, Mase is completely distracted.

That being said, stay out of the damn box.

Even better. Bring in another guy to coach the power play and/or penalty kill. The last Washington power play looked deadly and they didn't score. Before that, they were 3 for their last 3. Three goals on three shots. They didn't last long either.

I hate to say it, but if Mase gives up one more goal that he should probably have, he will likely get yanked for the game and possibly the series. It's tough to say, but he's better than this, quite frankly.

That hit on Orpik could change the entire outlook of the series, much like the hit that took out Couturier.

The Caps' guys are saying it was a hit to the head. I am not so sure of that.

How lucky can one team get!?! We finally have a strong kill against their power play and the puck takes a fluke bounce off the glass right in front of our net, allowing essentially a breakaway for Kuznetsov.

What a fucking disgrace. Carlson scoring from the same spot 4 times in 3 games. Hopefully game 3 we at last pretend to make adjustments

Seems to me like you guys have the situation pegged.

1. The Caps were the best team in the league all season and have so much depth it is tough for the Flyers to keep up, especially without Couturier.

2. One bad Mason goal doesn't undo the rest of his play the past 2 months. He's been phenomenal. I keep putting him out there until he falls over.

3. Home Ice can make a big difference. The boys will be energized tonight, no question. Have to come out, set the tone, AND get the first goal. The last part is the part that has been missing. They've been able to carry the play a good bit, but can't get the goal. They need to shoot it away from Holtby's logo and maybe they will score. Also need to crash the net HARD. Make his life a living hell.

4. That being said, can't have a parade to the penalty box. 3 of the 6 goals against have come on the PK. You have to find a way to stay out of the box. Flyers have only been outscored 3-1 at even strength and one of those was an absolute fluke. Win the special teams battle, win the series. That starts with staying out of the box.

Hm.

The Caps went 5 for 9 on the power play. I don't know that I've ever seen or heard of such a stat...

I hate it for Mase, but if we're not going to play in front of him, maybe we will play in front of Neuvy. I think the change has to be made. It's not entirely his fault, it is more to see if Neuvy can steal a game against his old team or if we support him a little more.

Just nothing going right for us in this series. I hope we don't lay down in game four. It's not over until the final horn.

Totally agree not one bounce and everything going caps way for the whole series yet they lead in shots??? Marginal penalties called on Philly but Ghost gets blindsided for only two? Hockey Gods pissing on them...can't say more similar to Boston series way back but hard to see them rally this time.

Start Neuvy and go from there.
We've been down this road before (Bruins), so anything is possible.
You have to start Nuevy just to change the look and hopefully they play with pride.

If we had Couturier and Del Zotto plus Neuvy entering hot, I'd say we could make this a series. I don't see it happening as is, but it looks like they do lose Orpik. You never know what that could mean moving forward. With that loss, we've successfully taken our pound of flesh out of them, regardless of the result of game four.

Maybe the stretch run to get into the playoffs took too much out of our guys. We look tired at times. No regrets though. I am proud that we made it in, but this is getting embarrassing.

Things are slipping away rapidly. I am proud that the Flyers got this far this year and there are many positives to take into next year if we finally do get swept.
