After the first loss of the year, Fisher said that the Rams were not an 8-8 team. That had given management confidence that he meant that they were better than that. Once they lost the ninth game, they realized that he was talking about other way. ;)

That is just it. Fisher can take a 9 or 10 win team and make them a 4 or 5 win team. If you swapped him and Belichick, NE would miss the playoffs and LA would be 11-5.

That extension was money to keep his mouth shut about the move to LA...just a little hush money so when he went away he did it quietly...

He was a pretty good offensive coordinator for Denver after they fired Reeves. And he had some success with the Giants, even taking them to a Super Bowl. He wasn't anything special, but there's been a whole lot worse.

Never impressed me one little bit.

I'm guessing in 1 year there is probably only a 2~ win difference between the two coaches.

A big difference between the two is how they attack the draft and do contracts. Fisher seems to bring in freakish athletes that dont know the NFL game at all and Belichick finds a way to win with older players, undersized players and others teams discards.

I guess you can look at it another way.
He has a better winning pct vs the likes of Romeo Crennel, Dom Capers, the Wizinator, Chan Gailey, Chip Kelly, Rex Ryan, Norv Turner,Mularkey, Del Rio and Lovie Smith who all got rehired.
But unlike most of them the NFL figured still hasn't figured out Fisher is not a good Head Coach.

Of that list, I'm pretty sure Turner was the only one who ever got a third job, and the Chargers were pretty heavily criticized for their decision to hire him.

Except at WR where he rarely had much talent at all in Tenn.

Rams fired coach Jeff Fisher.

In a cruel, ironic twist for the NFL's pre-eminent loser, the firing comes three days before he was set to pass Dan Reeves for the most coaching losses in league history. Fisher is so inept he can't even claim the record that's been his destiny for over a decade. The firing is perhaps the most justified of the modern era. Fisher has had five years to turn around a laughingstock franchise, but instead made it an even bigger joke. Fisher's team had truly made zero progress on his first year in 2012. A wanton waster of draft picks and capital, Fisher is clueless on Sundays, fundamentally misunderstanding offense and overseeing a cavalcade of idiotic penalties. Fisher doesn't make adjustments, aside from usually dialing up more personal fouls in the second half. Try as he may, he never came close to "cleaning up" his chronic, myriad, inexcusable mistakes. No coach, in any sport anywhere in the world, makes more excuses. Fisher has almost certainly coached his final NFL game.
