This mornin on Big Red Countdown Jeff Jamrog said that next years contest against McNeese St will be the last game scheduled against an FCS opponent. Is this due to the new scheduling requirements in the B1G or are we just stepping up our scheduling.

It will surely help our sos. Cant say i was ever to thrilled to see the little guys on our schedule, there didnt seem to be any upside to playing those guys.

It is because of the new rules in place for the playoffs.

Before, you could schedule the cupcake to bank the money for the budget(the current excuse flavor). Now, it counts against you when voting for the playoffs.

I think every school would have gone to scheduling division three teams just to get people through the gate for the "budget." if it did not hurt them for rankings.

I think they are going to 9 conference games soon.

So there will only be 3 OOC. Thus the elimination of the FCS.
