BaltimoreRavens.com’s Clifton Brown said J.K. Dobbins is “highly motivated” entering 2023.
“I don’t think he’s disgruntled,” Brown said of Dobbins, who held out of Baltimore’s mandatory minicamp in June due to contract-related issues. Brown said on the Rotoworld Football Show that new offensive coordinator Todd Monken will try to get Dobbins “in space” as a pass catcher out of the backfield, echoing offseason reports that the team’s new look offense will involve running backs in the passing attack, unlike former Ravens OC Greg Roman.

I"ll believe it when I see it. With a guy like Lamar back there, why would you check down when you're more likely to have more success running it yourself..outside of those times where there's no other options. If everyone downfield is covered, and he's got the choice to run to open space, or throw a check down, he's running. Until proven otherwise, I'll always place the wager on Lamar calling his own number much more often than anything else
It's and wait a see thing, but at some point running QBs start wanting to not run the ball themselves as often as the beating they take adds up.

Sure, and I guess that's sort of what I meant by, until proven otherwise.
If he's too that point, great, I'll be happy to be wrong.

Then that begs the follow up ?,.. how long will these running QB's still be the starting QB's one their production with the legs no longer outweighs their deficiencies in the pass game?

Can you say Cam Newton? He actually lasted longer than I thought he would, but with most of these guys, once the wheels go, they go.

Well... not all running QBs are bad passers.

Will they be good? The question for me is how much being a running QB opened up the passing game when they did pass - because that in itself can make them look a better passer than they are - and how well they can adjust when that goes away.

I think we need to see more than 30 pass attempts a game to have a good idea about how they might overcome defenses as a more pure passer. Josh Allen will probably be a good passer regardless. Can't tell with Lamar or Hurts or Murray because they're still so run-heavy, and it's too early with Fields regardless.

oh very true..I'm talking specifically the Lamar and Fields of the league, possibly the new guy in Indy..we'll see

Obviously there's a handful of guys that can do both, the Allens, the Hurts (so far..I'm not entirely convinced but massive improvement year to year thus far)..but given their recent histories..these guys have already proven, at lest to a certain extent, that they can get the job done, consistently, through the air. Trevor Lawrence is another who could at anytime win a game with his legs, but doesn't very often. I feel decent enough that if they all stopped running altogether, they'd still be viable NFL QB's. I cannot say that for Lamar, or Fields, both need significant improvement, and in Lamar's case, I think he is who he is at this point. If that was going to improve, it would've by now. There's still hope for Fields, and I think he can, he has more natural passing ability than anything I've ever seen from Lamar, I think he just needs more experience to learn how to use it.

Cam Newton is like the unicorn exception..only one of the 'running' QB's who was built bigger than most LB's..he could handle a lot more of that crap.
But he was never a great passer either. Unfortunately for us all, his running style led to his shoulder getting fragged before his legs went, so we'll never know if he could've been a decent enough QB without the legs

Vick, Cunningham, Young, Wilson, Culpepper (another big assed running QB)...all could do both, in some cases, very well and all had relatively long careers because they could do both

I loved Culpepper, but he dropped off the face of a cliff from one year to the next. Cunningham made quite a nice career for himself. In the case of both of these guys, they were actually pretty decent passers as well.

Cunningham was my first non-Bills favorite player…and jersey… and that was before Vikings-Cunningham.

DC Comics?

Think of the marketing $$$ that would roll in...
You sign Cam "Superman" Newton to a 1 day/year contract.

Well if Warner Bros/DC comics would ever want to get into the league, I hope and pray they would produce better teams than they do superhero movies.

The Washington Justice League of America....it could work

On the other end of the spectrum, I thought Washington Football Team was a badass name.

"We don't have a mascot. We don't pretend to be animals or pirates. We play football."

I would agree to a certain amount of simplistic pleasure...but I hated it. Plus, the abbreviation always got autocorrected to 'WTF'

That's because it knew Snyder owned the team.
